There are few restaurants around the country where the servers open carry.

Any in Minnesota?

Not in the metro area.
I will never apologize for being an American.

Hong Thai restaurant in Rodgers. The owner has open carried for years. He's a real nice guy and he is right out front helping customers every day. He's usually the first person you meet when you walk in the door. If you like Asian food in a gun friendly environment, give Hong Thai a try!

Kind of hard for a server to reach for a gun when their hands are full.

That is a problem easily solved through training.
Dropping what's in your hands as you begin the draw stroke is probably the simplest answer.
Depending on the situation, it may be advantageous to toss what you are carrying as a distraction prior to the draw stroke.

Very similar to tossing your wallet on the ground. They generally end up following it with thier eyes or attempt to catch it. Practice the toss away from your strong side.

I recall there was a shooting exercise at the Burnsville Winter League that started with both hands occupied....grocery bags, and perhaps even a (simulated) infant...I think you lost points if you dropped the wrong one....

As to the restaurant, or similar situation...I figure a hot cup of coffee to the face would buy me some needed time.

Back in the day, if I was walking in public I'd always have a paperback in my hand. I'd always thought the way the pages would flap when I'd throw it at someone's face would make for a nice distraction. These days I'm always carrying a tablet. Doesn't have quite the same effect.

Joe and I always tried to make the matches fun, as well as learning a lesson or two (remember no-shoots behind shoot targets? ;) ). We had one stage where the shooter has a "baby" in one hand while engaging the first few targets, putting it into the crib, and finish engaging the last few targets. Some shooters really PUT the baby in the "crib" and broke it. Ah, well...

Sorry for the hijack...

Restaurants where the customers routinely open carry?
Because I care, I carry.
