My parents live in Tucson. I was just down there a couple of weeks ago.

The only thing I don't like about how this was reported is this

It could also have been a California-legal single shot... does speculating either way do anything useful?

Sure it does. It provides useful fuel for anti's. After all, 99.9999999945547637485533245567754% of all of their claims are based on speculation. Without it, they have no case.

That and 53.46% of all statitistics are generally made up on the spot.

I was reading some of the comments from the readers. 98% (almost entirely made up) of the comments posted there were in defense of the home owner. Some were even talking about what they would like to do to would be robbers. That alone would get you arrested up here!
If this was posted on the Pioneer Press website or the Star tribune, the numbers would be reversed. 98% would be calling for the head of the homeowner because he didn't know the true intentions of the assailants or some other BS.

You have that backwards. When shooting through a car windshield from the outside, the bullet will change direction downward.

I'm not sure about shooting from the inside. I imagine it's the opposite.
