It is called incrementalism, and it is the way things get done. We have the technology and now Obama has discovered the need. Next step is to apply the technology to the need. He is not going to be the one to propose the solution, but he will be the one to make it apparent.

Five years ago who would have believed that the federal government would could fire the CEO of General Motors. Impossible, but it happened. That's not the end game, but a baby step on the slippery slope of socialism.

Good idea to have a beer, but let's not ignore what is going on around us.

It's called paranoia, and while a small amount is healthy, reading dastardly plots into everything proposed by anybody on any subject is not.

Do you honestly think it is a better solution to have vets, some very elderly and some severely disabled waiting weeks if not months to obtain their medical records from the DoD or the VA so they can get better treatment for their illness or injury, suffered in the service of their country, is preferable to the DoD and/or VA centralizing their files so they can be transmitted electronically to whichever provider they are trying to see?

If you really want to worry about something, try freaking out over the confidential information and whatnot held on you by Credit Bureaus. None of which is subject to oversight or checking for verification, and all of which can, and does, have a deleterious effect on your lives, and the lives of your immediate family. Try asking to see that information (and I'm not talking about your credit report) and see how far you get.

Give me a break.

You put the words in your own mouth. I quoted you, as shown above in the paragraph regarding paranoia.

The latest link shows that the President is making great claims regarding his plans, which can no longer be excused as campaign promises. It is cause for suspicion, because his claims are impossible. If you don't agree, tell me how his going to deliver.

I believe we are in the off-topic section, and I believe that I am still off topic.

Sorry Rose, you're still not getting the point are you? You are indeed 'off topic', off the topic of this thread in fact, as posted by the OP, which was, in case you have forgotten:
Barry/Carpathian is going to start with the Mil.

If you want to discuss whether Obama's plans for health care reform will cost more money than he says, (and I agree, that's probably right) that's a different subject altogether.

It is you, not I, that is identifying yourself with the people I referenced in my post. Mine was a general statement, it is you that is making a personal reference. Not my problem if that's the way you see yourself, and just making quote after quote from previous posts doesn't make you right and me wrong.

Widge:

Do you know who Carpathian is? Perhaps you should google "Left Behind" and get up to speed on Carpathian and what he did. Then, you might understand the point of this thread.

I am fully aware of who 'Carparthian' is, but thank you anyway.

So, in light of that, help me out regarding being off topic.

As I understood it, the thread was about the possibility of using a medical e-records program to implant chips in soldiers and veterans, and how our President might be conspiring to do so. I don't know what else I've talked about. I will be interested to hear your account of my egregious misuse of the off-topic forum.

Okay, I'll point it out one more time for you:

The OP is talking about The President planning to use the excuse of centralizing Military health records between the VA and the DoD by electronic means as preparation for some fiendish plot that will involve implanting said military personnel with microchips, implying that this eventually lead to some Apocalyptic EOTWAKI as he is obviously the Anti-Christ mentioned in the 'Left Behind' series and The Book of Revelations.

You, on the other hand, are trying to use news releases detailing a totally different plan of transferring everyone in the country's medical records to computer (which was originally suggested by Slick Willy some 10 or 12 years ago) as some kind of verification of the OP's (and I presume, yours) belief, because it will likely incur additional costs and lead to job losses. I fail to see what one has to do with the other, unless your position is that because a = b and c = d, then a must also equal d because b and c seem to be somehow related.

As for 'egregious use' of the Off Topic Forum, you can post whatever you like, but why post something completely unrelated to the OPs original thread. Start your own thread if you believe that electronic health records are an inefficient way to go and will lead to people losing their jobs. It has nothing to do with soldiers being implanted with microchips, which, once again, is what this thread is about.

If you don't see the difference, you are either being deliberately obtuse, or just enjoy arguing for the sake of it.
