MN POLICE: Man had weapons stockpile, bomb threats

Postby morgasco on Tue May 19, 2009 10:36 am

A Brooklyn Park man faces charges stemming from a trip he voluntarily made to police, earlier this month.
David Pierre came to police on May 6—talking of revolution, fear of the government, and digging a shelter, according to court records.
"He talked about preparing for the revolution coming next year. He was preparing himself," said Capt. Greg Roehl.
The 55-year-old also told police ‘he fears the government and the ATF.' Authorities say Pierre was angry with his previous employer at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and threatened to blow it up.
Police say Pierre was armed with a loaded handgun when they took him for a mental evaluation at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
"He was talking kind of non-sense about certain things going on—how he wasn't treated fairly by police and he made veiled threats about doing harm to people and to property," Roehl said.
When police issued a search warrant, they found 18 firearms, several assault rifles, multiple ammunition clips, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and a gas mask. But police say they did not find any sign of explosives.
Pierre is scheduled for a court hearing Tuesday in Hennepin County.

Ooooh! scary! "hundreds of rounds of ammunition"!!!! :o (guess the reporter doesn't understand the savings when buying in bulk!)

"multiple ammunition clips" - guess he must have a Garand in that little collection huh?

"and a gas mask" - as cheap as those have been lately at CTD, SG, etc... everyone should have a couple of them in case the jihadi's manage a dirty bomb somewhere!

The reporter should read about this guy. He'd probably puke his testicles out of his mouth.

I agree, there needs to be some clarifications made about what a stockpile represents.

It is a little scary that this guy, who is obviously off his nut, is carrying a pistola. It's this kind of thing that gives the Anti's something to point at and cite as an example. The good news is that he didn't hurt anyone.

I get worried that all of these isolated incidents are being knit into a case to abridge the freedom to carry a firearm or even own one. It gets worse when you see no stories at all in the media that portrays gun owners and carry permit holders in a positive light. All negative is just another propaganda technique - slow, persistant and insidious - it plants the seed in the sheeple and they wake up not really knowing completly why they don't want anyone to have guns, they just don't.

It's all about making up terms and definitions that cause panic and fear. Just like the guy with 30,000 rounds of "high velocity" ammo.

Actually, this story is all about a nutcase that in fact, had 'stockpiled' some weapons and ammunition, i.e. went out and purchased several guns and some ammunition, stored them in his house and then went around saying he was going to kill people and blow up an airport. No more, no less.

How else would you describe what he (allegedly) did?

stockpile - 3 dictionary results

stock⋅pile
/ˈstɒkˌpaɪl/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [stok-pahyl] Show IPA noun, verb, -piled, -pil⋅ing.
–noun
1. a supply of material, as a pile of gravel in road maintenance.
2. a large supply of some metal, chemical, food, etc., gathered and held in reserve for use during a shortage or during a period of higher prices.
3. a quantity, as of munitions or weapons, accumulated for possible future use.

I guess we can get all pedantic and whine about 'assault' weapons, and 'clips' being misused, but the facts are what they are, and most people who are not gun enthusiasts, and that would probably include reporters, could give a sh!t about the difference between semi-auto and full-auto and magazines v clips. We should be thankful they got this looney before he actually did anything, or the reporting would really be over the top!

And the government showed him his fear of them was irrational by arresting him. Not saying it was wrong to do so, but I still find the irony amusing.

I'd like the media to use the phrase, "heapin' helpin'" from now on. It has a friendly, down-home sound to it. "Accoring to a police report uncovered by Eyewitness News, Ernesto Boogerface had a heapin' helpin' of ammo, a big-ole mess of guns, and a Godawful lot of magazines." Kinda makes the gun-nut sound like a Grandmother who cooks for the whole family.
I got nothin'

Why couldn't they have said he had a starter collection as a person new to the hobby of collecting and had less than a single case of ammunition? It's every bit as accurate as the news story.

Furthermore when did it become illegal to say you're getting ready for the next revolution and digging a shelter? It was patriotic to dig nuke shelters in the 50's. It sounds like his only offense was the supposed "bomb threat" against the airport. Why do I have the sneaky feeling that was police being a little less than honest? The guy used to work there, got fired, and made some nasty remark under his breath about I'd like to blow those F'ers up. I bet many people I have fired have said far worse things than that about me. Clearly they think the guy is a nut so they're trying muddle together something to get him.
