My new toy

Postby cobb on Mon Jun 08, 2009 7:32 pm

I am a big fan of the 45 acp, but the 10mm also has a warm spot in my heart. I do carry on a few occasions, like one of the Gopher breakfast's, a Colt Delta Elite in 10mm with the white lady grips.

Just picked this up, an unfired 4" 610-2, so no key safety. Accessories that came with were 50+ moon clips, a Kramer holster and a box of ammo.

Now I need to find a pre-safety 625 with a 4" barrel. :?

Wow. But if I bought something like that I'd want to shoot it... so I'd have find another unfired one... I'm beginning to see how guys wind up spending tens of thousands on their gun collections.

Very big fan of the 10MM here! Never shot a revolver in that caliber though. Hmm...

Gave away several thousand rounds a 40 S&W brass a few years ago to a couple friends because I didn't shoot a 40 S&W semi auto. Now with the 610 and moon clip, for playing games I think the 40 S&W brass would be better to reload over the 10mm.

I'm pretty new to handguns, so forgive the noob question, but can you shoot 40 s&w out of a 10mm rev.? I know it's a bit shorter and uses spp, rather than the lpp of the 10mm.

Gorgeous wheelgun, BTW.

Yep, moon clips will let you do the 40 in a 10mm.

With the moon clips, it would be similar to shooting 44 special in a 44 mag or a 38 special in a 357 mag. The moon clips create a rim to space off of the cylinder. Without the moon clips, the 40 S&W would be to short to space off the mouth like normal auto's and float or move in the cylinder.

Hope this help, if not, please ask because other may not understand.

Questions are a good thing... :)

Some people derisively call .40 S&W "10mm short".

I own a 610-2 as well. It is a hoot to shoot. 50 moon clips! That is a big deal. 610 moonclips cost a lot more than 625 moonclips.

I thought that was 10mm Short & Weak..

The 610 is nice. I eye them every once in awhile. Congratulations on your acquisition.
