Not necessarily .... You can just pull the trigger forward on an empty chamber.

But go back to knowing it's loaded and the chamber indicator as it can not be loaded and un-cocked.

Well in the context of the conversation, knowing if a round is chambered the point is still the same, you can not have a round in the chamber and not have the trigger cocked. But you can have it cocked and without a round in the chamber.

So in that sense the only good it would do for you is knowing if the gun is not loaded, or more accurately a round in the chamber.

True... But even then you can pull the trigger forward so it looks like it is 'cocked', and it won't reset the firing pin for a second shot.

In a technical sense, the Glock is never cocked unless you're holding the trigger to the rear before firing. The action of pulling the trigger backwards both cocks the striker and releases it. In that sense, the Glock is safer from a drop standpoint, because no matter how many mechanical safeties break, the gun will no go boom because there is no pressure on the firing pin in any state. Kind of like an internal hammer revolver if you will.

I think your girlfriend will like the 27. For as small as it is, the managing of recoil from a 40 is amazingly tame.
