The chamber indicator on the Glock sticks out far enough (when there is one in the pipe) that if you take your index finger and move it straight up from a firing grip, you can easily feel it protrude from the chamber. Don't even have to look at it. Very convenient.
If you're reading this, there are better than even odds you are a d-bag.

Yup, and if trigger is forward, it's cocked. Very simple.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Not necessarily .... You can just pull the trigger forward on an empty chamber.

But go back to knowing it's loaded and the chamber indicator as it can not be loaded and un-cocked.

Actually, he was correct. He said cocked, not loaded.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

Well in the context of the conversation, knowing if a round is chambered the point is still the same, you can not have a round in the chamber and not have the trigger cocked. But you can have it cocked and without a round in the chamber.

So in that sense the only good it would do for you is knowing if the gun is not loaded, or more accurately a round in the chamber.

True... But even then you can pull the trigger forward so it looks like it is 'cocked', and it won't reset the firing pin for a second shot.

I was speaking literally, since it was a true statement.......in any context.

In the end, you just don't point it at anything you are not willing to destroy and you keep the booger hooker off the bang switch and you'll be fine.

These threads have been very entertaining today! It is nice to be part of a forum where people can debate things with out being rude and disrespectful. A rare thing these days!

I love it. Never heard it said like that before. I am still laughing.

Congrats on having a girlfriend willing to carry tommy25000! I am an XD guy as well, but it is a good thing she is armed.

In a technical sense, the Glock is never cocked unless you're holding the trigger to the rear before firing. The action of pulling the trigger backwards both cocks the striker and releases it. In that sense, the Glock is safer from a drop standpoint, because no matter how many mechanical safeties break, the gun will no go boom because there is no pressure on the firing pin in any state. Kind of like an internal hammer revolver if you will.

I think your girlfriend will like the 27. For as small as it is, the managing of recoil from a 40 is amazingly tame.
