Let's start a movement...

Postby JohninMinnesota on Sun Mar 02, 2008 9:05 am

First, I must admit, I have ignored politics until recently. I've been a sheep. But now that the big bad wolf is comin blowin on my door (guns, hunting, taxes in general), I've decided I am going to begin a war on the big bad wolf.

I am willing to bet that the recent 6.6 BILLION DOLLAR tax increase IS NOT supported by a majority of Minnesotans. I think most of us would prefer to have the government be responsible with our money and STOP WASTING IT on moronic programs and welfare. Can't we all cite a few that we could do without?

A couple of quotes come to mind that summarize my positions...

" The belief in the possibility of a short decisive war appears to be one of the most ancient and dangerous of human illusions. "
--Lep Tolstoy, Russian writer and philosopher

" Civilization has been thrust upon me... and it has not added one whit to my love for truth, honesty and generosity. "
-- Luther Standing Bear

I think a good bill to introduce to the legislature would be a requirement to have a good majority of constituents sign on to a bill *before* it can be formally introduced. This would mean that the legislator did their homework, and is actually representing their constituents positions on the issue at hand. With technology of today, there is NO REASON why this can't happen fairly painlessly.

Comments? Opinions?

I am also willing to create a Minnesota based mailing engine (website that allows mass emailing to targeted groups of legislators *and* constituents with a single message) that will allow anyone to send an email to those who need to hear it on particular issues. It will be available to anyone who signs up, will have your registered name, address, etc. (all the stuff required by those who get the message), and will allow you to become active without having to spend an hour each time you want to be vocal about an issue to the entire house or senate. A draft email will be created which you can choose to customize, then submit to email all those who need to hear it. Being done here on a national level: http://www.gunowners.org/activism.htm

Being done already? Comments? Opinions?

Let's take our state back, one step at a time... then we can take back our country.

Or, we could just sit and bitch about it... ;)

Sounds like a great idea.

There are good stories out there that we can share with legislators. Here is one...

My mother-in-law a life long democrat and AIM supporter is voting republican from now on due to getting "taxed to death". She has felt the pain and now is seeing the light. Seeing their base go away will scare the **** out of them.

You all may like this from Nancy P and more taxes. Received it from a friend.

We've seen her in action before but this pretty much says it all. How in
the hell can our constituants put someone in as speaker who is obviously
crazy and out to destroy american life as we know it??? Dave

Adding a tax to your retirement is simply another way of saying to the American people, you're so damned stupid that we're going to keep doing this until we drain every cent from you. That's what the Speaker of the House is saying. Read below...............

Nancy Pelosi wants a Windfall Tax on Retirement Income. This woman is a nut case! You aren't going to believe this.

Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement fund, 401Ks and Mutual Funds! Alas, it is true - all to help the 12 Million Illegal Immigrants and other unemployed Minorities!

Boy, are we in trouble... This woman is frightening. She quotes..." We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest." When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied : "We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long ways to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'."
"Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains." WINSTON CHURCHILL

Sorry, if you beleive Snopes, this one doesn't pass the smell test. As much as I too have negative impressions of liberal politicians, this one sounded to bad to be true. I'm not saying she wouldn't like to put this into law, just saying she hasn't done so yet. http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/pelosi.asp

We need a name for this movement. We could call it:

STOP STUPID!
or
Minnesotans Against Socialism
or
Get Stupid Out Of Government NOW!
or...
Anyone?

I've got it - thanks to all of you "right winged gun nuts" here and on other bulletin boards (which will be banned when this movement is well underway), I came up with the name for our movement:

BAN COMMON SENSE

It is, after all, the problem here. Without it, everything in our world would be beautiful and serene. We wouldn't need to worry about violence or guns, or crime - worry is for people who think. Without it, we'll be better able to follow along with our legislators and our fearless leaders who forgo food and bathroom breaks to help to save us from *evil*.

I'm just getting it started, so I welcome your input!
