She's the perfect Republicrat. She's not at all vulnerable. She's also pretty useless.

Franken would be vulnerable if opposed by a good candidate. Unfortunately, Republicans have tended to try to elect Tea Party psychos of late and that means Democrats win.

We're just lucky Dayton is as moderate and intelligent as he is and also has a lot of RURAL MN friends, supporters and contacts.

Remember, gun control is not Republican vs. Democrat, but almost always an urban vs. rural issue and we must remember that when we support politicians.

Excellent post. I must confess, this thread has caused me to rethink my opinion of Dayton a little bit. Now, if I could just keep his hands out of my pocket....

You want a good state to live in......you're gonna have to pay some taxes.

That's the way it works.

If you want Mississippi or Louisiana, elect a Tea Party governor and a Tea Party legislature and that's what we'll have.

Myself, I like the traditional Minnesota values. Where will Dayton and those values finally bring us on gun control?

We're likely going to end up with some form of increased background checks to purchase certain (terrifying black) types of firearms.....maybe on everybody except family members (we may get cousins and uncles added to the exemption if we're lucky).

That's just the way it is. We may not like it, but a poll of Minnesotans would probably strongly support that outcome.

I have a friend whose wife works with Klobuchar, she has said the exact same thing. I think Klobuchar frustrates both political parties. ;)

Wait, I thought we didn't want politicians that vote just on party lines?

Whether you like Amy K. or not, she for dang sure isn't a party line robot. Something for which I can actually respect her.

I want politicians to take stands that show some courage.

I respect those who do.

Klobuchar has never taken a courageous stand on anything.

What exactly are "Minnesota values" and how do they differ from New York, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Missouri and Wyoming values? And why do those who feel the need to justify the taxation in this state always mention their perceived poor quality of living and lack of values in certain southern states? Monumental arrogance on display.

Do you think Kurt Bills was a tea party psycho?

Bills went on KTCA’s “Almanac” Friday where Kathy Wurzer led off by asking him – since he is known to be an admirer or Congressman Ron Paul and to have won the Repub endorsement largely on the basis of support from the Paulites who took over the convention -- to specify the areas, if any, on which he differs from Ron Paul. The verbatim answer:

Rep. Kurt Bills: Yuh, I think you have to look at, again, you agree on fiscal and monetary policy. But you also have to look at foreign policy and be very thoughtful about it. But then also have to bring your own positions to the table as well. Having a strong national defense is very important to me. But then I think it also is to the congressman. And how do you look at foreign aid? And can we just cap foreign aid at some level like Senator Jim DeMint and Sen. Mike Lee and Senator Rand Paul put out? So it’s how can you work with people, stay at the table and keep discussing things.

That answer says it all, I guess.

(Meaning it says nothing.)

So if we are not all goose stepping to the same exact tune it's considered attacking each other?

I personally see value in discussion, and the valid presentation of others opinion (even if everyone else is wrong :? )

Klobuchar excels in Minnesota's passive aggressive climate. By standing tall for nothing, it makes her tough to target. Doing this means she can establish a strong voting base making it tough to be defeated, thus gaining power in the party apparatus. It's smart politics.

I have a feeling if a R from MN did the same thing, y'all would be applauding them.

Who said I was referring to you? It just seems that alot of threads go so far off topic from the op and turn into a little pissing matches between members that there really is no reason to read much past the first page. It gets tiring.

She's just copying Obama.

That's exactly the way he's played it and it's worked for him.

Amy might go for president as early as 2016 if Hillary doesn't go for it.

She'd probably win. Americans aren't looking for people like Rand Paul or Sarah Palin, so Republicans better start choosing more moderate candidates or Democrats will run everything.
