In an amendment to a recent budget resolution, the senate voted 53-46 to NOT enter into that treaty (March 22, 2013)

AMENDMENT PURPOSE:
To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.

I dont know if this is binding on our UN ambassador, but at the very least it would seem to indicate that getting a 2/3 ratification vote would be difficult.

Why not? His big campaign slogan the last time was "vote for me, I'll do whatever the democratic party tells me to."

Done deal. The USA voted yes and it passed in the UN. It now has to go before the Senate for the 2/3rds vote to be ratified. Then we're all screwed!
