I don't disagree with you but I do think that there is a difference. It was not just a change in ownership. The entire inventory was wiped out and the new inventory was Larry's personal collection. As nice as some of those peices were, it was limited. It will take time for it to be the mecca that it once was. Time will tell and I hope there will be aday where it looks and feels like the same old GS. Larry is a standup guy and was always great to deal with and I hope to deal with him again.
Unfortunately there is that difference. What he had tucked away sure is impressive. Hopefully with the surge in business he will be able to purchase more stock.
He's got better (qantity, quality, and "intersting") used stock than anybody in west metro and it's growing. Observations on recent saturday foray-
Frontiersman- picked to the bone
AA- not in the game
Gander-almost picked to the bone
Cabin Fever- slim pickings
gunshow- sucked
can't speak for Bill's, but I've yet to purchase anything there other than range time or stuff. Used gun prices usually at what I consider crack-smoking levels, so have not made habit of driving the extra 10 miles.
As for customer service, I have had great practical service from larry and rest of GS crew. Marv is sweetheart at Frontiersman. If I look at my store purchases over past 2 years, it's probably
40% GS
40% Frontiersman
10% gander
10% cabin fever
GS and Frontiersman earn the bucks by being competent, nice, having cool used stuff, clean used guns, and right price.
