My view from the range at Bill's in Robbinsdale today

Postby ArtVandelay on Thu Jan 31, 2013 12:47 pm

So I was shooting with my dad this morning, range wasn't very busy. About half way through our trip we could hear that someone must have rented a full auto firearm, cool. I get done shooting and look back to see 3 uncased firearms (the Thompson submachine gun pointed directly at me) sitting on the back shelf. I walked over to see what was up only to find that 2 Bill's employees were the ones placing the firearms there. When I asked them what they were doing they responded "it's ok, don't worry about it". Definitely wont be shooting there again if they can't even follow their own rules...

Have you tried going to management?

Before blasting a business, give the manager/owner a shot at correcting employee action. At least, that's what I do at most places. Sometimes, the manager/owner does something about it. Sometimes they don't, and then I don't return.

Yea, exactly, maybe OK for after hours or on the private range. I guess these employees didn't watch that very cute and informational range rules video.

I contacted them through their email form on their website, let's see if they even care to respond.

I would 'think' the manager would know about multiple full auto weapons being brought to a firing line, but that's just me.

I did through their forum. I don't think I'm "blasting" them just stating what happened and posting pictures to prove it. I didn't really have any choice while I was at the range. They work their so I don't believe going to the range officer who was sitting right behind them would help. Just trying to let other forum members know that safety doesn't seem like a concern to them. Let's see how the management responds to my email.

I had something similar happen at Circle Pines. I called the manager, and he was extremely interested in what I had to say.

I will never go back, I would rather drive a little further and feel safe. This isn't the first safety issue I've seen there but the others were customers not employees. Hopefully I can use the remainder of my gift card I got for Christmas on a knife or something.

I've overall had a really positive experience at Circle Pines. I rarely go to Robbinsdale, so that's why I suggested contacting the manager about it.

I will go back to Bill's North again and again. (I will not however go to Bills Robinsdale based solely on the range.) The staff is great and the range is pretty nice at the north location....saftey issues are obviously a concern. When there are a lot of people, and a lot of new people, that are buying guns that can get a bit hectic. I realize that. But I will not spite Bill's for the users negligence. Bill's has always treated me well. I will how ever notify range officiers of in proper behavior (if I dont say something to the shooter first) and if I see the range officer not doing his/her job, I will absolutely notify the management.

Yea I wouldn't blame Bill's either if it wasn't their employees who were breaking the rules, even after I confronted them. They didn't even bother to move the gun that was pointing at me.

Re-read. Didn't see that the first time.

I would inform the manager in person or on the phone. Not acceptable.

I got an email response from someone (not sure if manager) who is going to look at my pictures and review the video.
