Women robbed at gun point

Postby mzdadoc on Fri Feb 28, 2014 4:26 pm

Just when you thought small towns were safe.... Friday 2/21/14 at about 9:26 PM two women here in Jordan were robbed at gun point while shoveling snow.
Exactly why I carry even at home in the yard and or in my garage.

Two women at the same location or two separate incidents blocks apart?

The story I read the other day was the robbers got away with 600 bucks while the women were shoveling snow. I'm guessing it was more then a random robbery.

When I'm blowing snow & shoveling, I don't have any wallet or cash on me.

Yes, maybe more than a random.

I'm the same way. I fell the most vulnerable around my home when I'm out clearing the long public sidewalk out front. The snowblower requires a fair bit of attention, particularly with some of the heavier snowfalls of late.Sometimes I'm forced to do it at night. It would not take much for a car to roll up and surprise one.

Who said they were shoveling snow? $600? Sounds like some drug dealers got robbed.

I agree. Who carries that much cash shoveling snow? Either they're lying, or criminals themselves would be my guess.

I haven't seen the paper's report but I suspect the make up of Jordan's trailer park is very similar to Chaska's- predominately Hispanic. Many work for cash or cash their checks soon after being issued and do not have bank accounts so often have a fair bit of cash on them. $600 sounds like a week's work at a fast food establishment for two people or two weeks pay for one. This distrust of banks is common for many recent immigrants which is a factor in their frequent targeting for such crimes.

I guess I never thought of that.... When I lived in FL there was a large population of people from S America. They were a very small people who for that reason always carried cash. They were targeted until they started always staying in large groups.... ( number not size lol )

I work with about 100 Mexican's and most of them have a pocket full of cash especially just after payday, its how they operate.
