A Brooklyn Park man faces charges stemming from a trip he voluntarily made to police, earlier this month.
David Pierre came to police on May 6—talking of revolution, fear of the government, and digging a shelter, according to court records.
"He talked about preparing for the revolution coming next year. He was preparing himself," said Capt. Greg Roehl.
The 55-year-old also told police ‘he fears the government and the ATF.' Authorities say Pierre was angry with his previous employer at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and threatened to blow it up.
Police say Pierre was armed with a loaded handgun when they took him for a mental evaluation at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
"He was talking kind of non-sense about certain things going on—how he wasn't treated fairly by police and he made veiled threats about doing harm to people and to property," Roehl said.
When police issued a search warrant, they found 18 firearms, several assault rifles, multiple ammunition clips, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and a gas mask. But police say they did not find any sign of explosives.
Pierre is scheduled for a court hearing Tuesday in Hennepin County.
