if they (the Law) come looking, they can back track an issued DL by address not just number. I can calmly say he was worried about ID theft, I read it, copied it with the numbers covered, redacted, etc,

It's a little tough to prove you sold it when you just have 'John Brown from St. Paul bought it'.

Hasn't happened yet. I'll follow the law, but won't let imaginary problems drive my choices. I like the "John Brown from St. Paul" bit. If it's the truth, I have nothing to prove, to anybody or agency.
