Picked up the Colt Trooper yesterday. I'm glad that it is every bit as good as was portrayed on Gunbroker. The blueing is perfect, apart from the dragline on the cylinder, there is no marks on it at all. The lands and grooves in the bore are sharp, no issues there either. Just a couple of small nicks in the grip and a small area next to one of the medallions is dull.

The trooper uses a transfer bar in between the hammer and the firing pin. It is safer to drop the hammer on a loaded chamber but the trigger pull suffers a little bit. Double action is definately heavier and not as smooth as with my S&W 686, Single action is not as crisp. Will that matter? I don't now yet. What I like is that the bore axis is lower on the trooper which was my only gripe with the Smith.

NIce wheelie! I'm partial to K frame Smiths, but think I need to expand my horizons. As a target gun, the nicer Smith triggers are a significant benefit. As a fighting gun the Colt will work just fine ;)
