Not sure about Owatonna, but Rogers said be in line at 7:30 and come right to the gun counter. They are to receive 8 or 10 today ( not there at 2:00pm) and plan to put one on the counter for display only. No idea when more will be sent.

I asked him why offer a 4 hour sale on a new gun in very short supply. He suggested I called Marketing, they have all the great ideas, he just works there.

Jon has a very good price, but I have $329 of credit points on my Cabela's card, that is why they interested me.

Maybe if I decide to get one, or a DPMS in 308, I should check with Jon. My daughter wants a Ruger LCP and her 24th birthday is next month, I could use my Cabela point then.?.?.

He is a DPMS factory authorized dealer and would give you an even better deal as an IDPA member and Farnam alum . If you decide to come up for a gun or whatever, let me know. Jon belongs to Elk River, Minnetonka Game & Fish and Monticello Sportsman, so we can do most any type of shooting

I live just south of Owatonna so I thought I would go see if Cabela's had any of the SW MP-22LR rifles for $429 in their 4 hour promotion. Not being an early person and not wanting to wait in line I did not get there until 9:15 AM. They were sold out of them by then. Wednesday they said they had at least 6 for the promotion. They asked where I lived, I said Owatonna, he took my name and will honor the 4 hour sale price when they get more in. Not too long.

The price is good, not really great, but when I combine it with my Cabela's Visa promotion I will save another $100 which will make it a great deal.

I like the SW MP better than the Colt because the MP uses a regular AR steel trigger (the SW rep at Ahlman's said that a JP trigger or other aftermarket trigger will fit if I want to replace it) rather than the plastic trigger I saw on the Colt. I do not like the rails all over the forearm. I may try to see if a regular AR forearm will fit. I have several that I relpaced on my other AR's.

Followed me home from Rogers Cabelas. I was 5th of 6 that got one.
Crazy mad dash run to the gun counter to get it. Sorta like a Black Friday sale.

I had hoped they would give numbers or hand out a voucher before they opened the doors.

Now I need to take it to the range....some day. :)

Since I started this thread I was feeling obligated that I should at least try to haul my a$$ out of bed this morning and head down to Owatonna and see if I could get lucky and score a rifle.
When I pulled up to the front door I was amazed to see nobody was there yet. I was actually the first one in line.

It didn't take long before people were showing up in bunches though. At about 7:30 someone from Cabela's came out and issued tickets to the first people in line that wanted one of the M&P15-22's. The ticket number was matched to one of the rifles in stock. This worked out real well since there was still a stampede once the doors were officially opened. Damn duck hunters buying decoys I think. ;)

They sold out before they even opened the doors. The guy who helped me told me they were expecting at least 30 guns but only received 12. The sale price plus some of my Cabela’s bucks made it an even better deal.

Here are a few quick pics.

Are you going to use it at the Winona AS?

I will probably bring it and shoot it for fun, but it only comes with one mag so I don't know how well that would work.

By the way, the mags for this thing feel very solid.

OK, now that many of us will have one. Where do we get spare magazines? When I asked the SW rep at Ahlman's if they were available, he said that none were available now, all were being used for rifles. At some time they will be available.

Has anyone tried to get a spare magazine yet?

There is a guy on this forum that claims he ordered his spare mags and has them already.
He says he got them in about 7-8 days.

If true, then that is good news they are becoming available. :D

I got to witness him take her cherry today. It's a neat little rifle.

...seems rather a sexist way to refer to breaking in a weapon....
and not really something I would brag about with it being a .22 and all......... :?

It was fun to shoot and a pretty good shooter. Now I need to decide if the Leupold 3-9x40 VX-II scope comes off the 5.56 rifle and lives on the .22
I know I will be shooting the 15-22 more given the cost savings.

More M&P15-22's Found - 5 Left

Postby IDPA Shooter on Mon Aug 31, 2009 10:22 pm

A friend and I stopped at H&H Sports in Maple Lake on our way to the the Wright County Friends of the NRA meeting. Well they just got in 6 M&P 15-22 and were selling them for $420. My friend bought one for himself, I have one on order with my training partner, so none for me. Range report after we hit Elk River on Wednesday.
