Authorities are investigating the shooting of a truck driver by squirrel hunters.

The St. Louis County sheriff's office says the 56-year-old semi driver was hit by a .22-caliber rifle bullet that came through the passenger-side window of his cab on Highway 53 just north of Cusson around 11:30 a.m. Saturday. He was wounded in the forearm.

The driver continued driving north to International Falls, where he was treated at a hospital and released.

Investigators say two juveniles later admitted they had fired toward the highway when they were shooting at a squirrel.

The sheriff's office urged parents to always directly supervise children when they're shooting firearms, and for shooters to always know what's behind their target.

Sounds a little fishy to me. My hunting land is up in that area and the only squirrels around there are those tiny little red ones that annoy you when deer hunting. I can't believe anyone actually hunts them unless they just want to kill something. Good excuse though, if you shoot at trucks passing by.
