Gunsmith in the W/NW Suburbs

Postby JoeH on Mon Oct 01, 2007 9:19 am

I want to change the front sight on a pistol. Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith in the west or northwest burbs?

I was recently told by a S&W LEO rep. that the Streicher's gunsmith is excellent when it comes to work on M&P ARs. You may want to check if he does pistols as well.

Otherwise, although it's outside your area, everyone I've ever talked to about gunsmiths in the Metro can't say enough good things about the guy at Joe's Sporting Goods off of Rice and between 36 and 694 in Shoreview.

Larry Dullum in Anoka is quite good. He does all of the work for Bill's. What type of gun is it on and what type of sight are you looking to put on?

FYI, Joe's Sporting Goods is on the south side of Hwy 36, in Little Canada... from Hwy 36, exit on Rice St., going south, then east on County B. Can't comment on the 'smith since I've never used them.

I've not had any work done by the Maple Grove Gander Mountain gunsmiths, but the Waite Park folks are/were pretty decent.

If you want me to, OK, I have a hammer, chisel, and grinder......... :o

Seriously, I can't recommend any Gander as I haven't used them, and BTW I used Toms sig line as a funny, however, I can and do recommend Ryan at Bills/N, or the guy at Joe's....................

Joe,

Call Territorial Gunsmiths in Hopkins, he can take care of you. His number is in the phone book.

it is a dovetailed sight or a staked on sight?

dovetails are pretty easy. staked on sights are a little harder but not difficult at all.
