Cobb:
And this came from where?

Got it in the mail. Part of the Cabela's quarterly discount coupons Cabela's Visa card holders get. $75 off if you buy over $400. If I buy something else to get it to $500, it will be worth $100. I think it is good to October 1.

I usually use these coupons to buy any guns at Cabela's.

And use the Cabela's Visa to pay for it, thus perpetuating the cycle.....

I shot this today at Bills and I am buying one once I can find one. I couldn't believe how much fun it was to blast through 100 rounds. I just dont think I could do that without thinking about it in 223. I also like getting back to iron sights. I am sure some time with this gun will make me a better shooter; and at the price I would rather have this than a dedicated upper.

I should say that once I have one I will be putting on covers over most of the rails. I did not like the feel of them. Even with that I can't remember when I was this excited about a 22.

There was a gentleman at the range in St. Cloud this last week with the colt version of the S&W .22. It looked like a real hoot to shoot, but when i asked how much it set him back, it was somewhere in the $700.00 range! Is there that big of a difference between the two, or are people just paying for the colt name?

Cool.
I had mine to the range last Friday and shot about 300rds through it without a hitch.
Fun little gun to shoot. The uncle-in-law even liked it. The funny thing is he hates the stock trigger on my M&P15 5.56 rifle, but liked the one on the M&P15-22 ;-)

Maybe for Christmas, santa will bring me a new Timney trigger for my AR. :goofydance:

I too, would like to get a couple more mags for the M&P15-22. Just can't swing it right now.

I have to say that the Smith & Wesson MP 15 OR that I bought about a year ago did have absolutely the worst trigger I have ever felt on a stock AR or even AK. I knew I was going to put in a JP trigger so I didn't really care. If I remember correctly, the trigger pull started at about 6 pounds, went up to about 9 pounds and then dropped back down to about 6 pounds again before firing. There was about 0.060 sear engagement.

The trigger was really bad. Fine now with the JP trigger.

Cobb, where did you buy yours? Cabela's has not called me back that they have gotten more MP 15-22's in for the "rain check" that they gave me for the $429 price. I have checked in the store to verify they do not have any on the shelf and they don't. When asked, they do not know when more are coming. My additional Visa discount coupon runs out October 1, so I'm beganning to worry.

Has anyone seen these locally for a reasonable price? My 12 year old has saved up his allowance and birthday money and really wants to buy one. I made a deal with him that if he pays $300 I'll pay the rest. In exchange I can shoot it whenever I want and when he moves out, he takes it with him. Win/win.

I sure like seeing the boy making good choices. When he was younger he would piss away his money on Pokemon cards or candy. Last year he was buying airsoft rifles which are a bit better, but the cheap ones he'd buy don't last forever. My wife was a bit hesitant about him buying a rifle, but this is something that will last him the rest of his life.

He says he's going to save up for a pistol next. Good boy...

Have your son look at the SIG 522 LR before he buys the M&P. I originally was going to get one but got the SIG 522 instead. The SIG is less money. Mine shoots really well. The only malfunctions were with some 22's laying around in a can that I think were left over from my grandfather. Win, Rem and Federal bulk ammo all seems to work in it. The SIG is heavier but it really looks better built than the M&P especially the barrel and how it is attached.

I hadn't heard of that rifle before. I'll run it by him. I told him should just get a 10/22 but he's in love with the M&P15-22 right now. He may go for the Sig 522 though. Thanks for the tip.

My son picked up the M&P 15-22 over the weekend and I took him to BPR yesterday to test it out. Judging from the smile on his face, I think he's happy with his purchase. He put 300 rounds down range and managed to let me put 50 down. His groups shrunk as the afternoon wore on, though accuracy wasn't his purpose this time. He just wanted trigger time.

Those of you that have one...do you feel a click when the trigger resets? This one has that and it just doesn't seem right.
