New Glock 19...with Some Differences?

Got my new Glock 19 yesterday . Ordered it from Topglock over the internet and had it sent to Dave at DK Mags in New Brighton. Took 5 days total from ordering to pick up. The transfer at DK Mags went extremely well--Dave made an appointment for me to come in at a time when he had no other customers, and I was out of there with the gun in about 10 minutes at $25 cost. Sportsman's Warehouse had about the same cost once tax etc. figured in, but I have routinely gotten such terrible service there that I decided I wouldn't do it again.

It looks like Glock may have made some changes to the grip of the newest Glock 19s? I will have to look at some of yours again, but this one has very modest individual finger holds...I thought the most recent one I shot had quite dramatic individual finger indentation? Anyway, looking forward to shooting it soon!

Seams like all 3rd gen Glocks have improved "finger" grooves. Sounds like you got a new one.

I have a Gen 1 Glock 19 and Glock 17

The G19 has proven to be one of the best CC guns out there - and it has proven itself to be the top choice of PMC's in Iraq and Afghan....

Good Luck with the new gun - it shoudl serve you well for YEARS to come - I have had mine for more than 15 Years.

My wife and I both opt for the G19 as carry gun of first choice. It is about as perfect as can be. Uber reliable; decently concealable; adequately accurate; happy to be owned by someone not over zealous about cleaning; and, add Tru-Glo TFO sights and eve olde eyze do ok at the range.

It is not my most accurate out-of-the-box gun (that honor goes to a CZ 75B SA); not the prettiest; but...when the trigger is pulled it goes bang every time. That is "carry beauty"

As for the finger grooves, I'm not aware of Glock changing them any time recently. All generation 3s should be the same. Don't forget that my 19's finger grooves are much more pronounced because of my Hogue slip-on grip.

Would you mind posting here when your new gun was test-fired? What does the little envelope in your case say on it? Also, what is the tiny number on the top of your magazine's followers -- a 5 or a 6?

Finally, I'm thinking about ordering some magazines from Natchez. I think they're 13.99 a piece if we order 10 of them.

Hey bohemian, Thanks for the congrats! Yah, kinda' quiet lately--had surgery Monday and still not doing so well. So I am laying low trying to get back into fighting shape. The gun was test fired June 5, 2007. The magazine follower number is a 6 (or, I suppose, it could be a 9 upside down ). Maybe I was thinking of your hogue grips when I thought my grip didn't seem to have nearly as pronounced finger grooves...? I would post pictures but it just seems too much work in the shape I am in right now!

I have both a Gen 1 and Gen 3 G!9, and I keep the Hogue slip-on grips on both. Heat it up with a hair dryer, and it's a little easier to put on. The Gen 1 has 43,000 rounds thru it, and it's still workin' great, so I do believe that they last a while! I believe that the number on the mag follower is supposed to be a 6.

You guys are helping me think I made a good decision! Thanks all! Joe, the Taurus is sitting here, waiting to be cleaned to see if that solves the occasional not-going-into-battery problem. How bad is this: I cleaned the new glock today though it is brand new and never been fired, but the much-fired Taurus hardly ever gets cleaned! I love the Taurus though, and will probably keep it around as a range gun.
Think I may have turned the corner finally on the feeling better after surgery! Life suddenly looks better tonight! Thanks for your thoughts.

I bought a dozen from Natchez and they were all the number 6.
Plus one on the Glock 19, we have a shooter with 110,000 rounds thru his, broke a couple trigger springs, he reports fewer than 10 FTE, no FTF or doublefeeds
