The truck, the guns, the tools, the house, my hands and face...all show the wear I would expect of things that follow me through life and are used. I have few things that are pristeen and perfect. Life gives us all dents, scrapes, and scars.

Safe queens, trophies, and treasure are meant to be kept in perfect condition when possible, but they are only memories and reminders.

The things I use should show that use...proudly!

The stuff that is worn to whatever degree, frequently have the best stories behind them.

It's the same (for me) as a road-worn guitar. The wear is what gives it its mojo. Consider a nice Tele with a bit of finish missing on the back of the neck, some paint wear on the body from your forearm, and a light buckle rash. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. Dead sexy.

Well said. I'm going to go put my filthy well worn whore of a Glock on the nightstand now. 8-)

Although I like my guns looking in mint condition I'm not going to try from holster wear. All holster wear tells me is I have a gun comfortable enough to carry with me every day, reliable enough that I stake my life on it, and old enough that it's proven itself in the other two categories.

My guns are made of stainless steel. What is 'holster wear'?
