3-gun

Postby Payne on Mon Feb 08, 2010 6:18 am

Feb 21 at Del-Tone-Luth Gun Club starting at 10:00 a.m. Or when the stages get set up.

Blow the dust off of your weapons and give this a shot. Should be a good time. If anyone needs a shotgun or handgun to borrow let me know. I could also get a scoped AR sighted in if anyone needs one. Just supply the ammo.

This is really disappointing, we have a IDPA match at Bill's Robinsdale that evening with a meeting before it.

Ron,

You will be disappointed to miss the meeting and the IDPA shoot right? Seriously, there will be more in the near future. I will just have one more month worth of practice than you is all :D

I'll be keeping an eye on the weather and probably decide Sunday morning. :freezin:
I'm not even sure where all my gear is. Or if I have enough ammo. Haven't touched the shotgun since?????? I wonder where my shotgun is? :?
Yeah, but I shoot with THIS hand.

It probably walked off into the night because it felt unwanted.

Keith,

No problem with the shotgun, or the rifle for that matter. I have a Savage O/U .223 over 20ga. that you can borrow. Covers the basics of shotgun and rifle all in one gun. Really cool, you will enjoy using it I am sure  .

The only way I could beat anybody with one of those is if I used it as a club. :wack:

3 gun is something that has always intrigued me, though I've never gone.

What kind of fees are involved?

It's usually $25-$30 depending on how many stages they set up at Del-tone.
Figure 100 rounds for each gun, to be safe. You'll go home with ammo at the end of the day.

so would an 870 work for the shotgun portion... also what kind of ammo will be needed for the shotgun?

870 works just fine. Most everybody runs 7.5's or 8 birdshot. WallyWorld ammo is good enough although I stay away from the Winchester Bulk packs as the crimps have been known to be bad and jam up semi-auto's. (and pumps.) Payne's done more 3-gunning than me lately. Maybe he knows if it's still an issue but I'll stick with the Federal bulk packs to be safe or the ultra reliable AA sporting clays loads for the Benelli. There will be a combination of aerial and static clay targets and then steel targets that you have to knock over in the same stage. Some places won't let you shoot anything bigger than 7.5 shot. I think Deltone lets you run 6.5's if you wish. Never felt the need to yet, personally. Bring 10 slugs just in case and it'd be a good idea to know where they hit out to 50 yards. No buckshot.
Yeah, but I shoot with THIS hand.
