Hey Larry, you said "2 or 4 sq feet" before, so I've got you down for 2. If you really really want 4, maybe you can talk Vlad or somebody out of a couple.

Assuming they get back to us. Strad, I wonder what would happen if I just showed up at the place?

Ok, everybody sitting down for this?

I was guiding my machinery riggers when he called back, so I didn't write down the exact amounts.

.060 = $85ish a 4x8: they have 2 sheets in Chicago and can have them up here by the 25th for free as it can go on the scheduled delivery truck.

.093 = $170 a 4x8: shipping will be $125 as it has to come freight out of PA (from the factory). Now there's hope for this stuff, but you guys need to buy a lot more of it! If we buy 10 sheets, it comes down to $106ea. But keep in mind, that's a $1060 order and we still have truck freight on top.

Ok, I just got off the phone with Tom at Industrial Plastics, or whatever the name of the place is, and 2 sheets of the ".060, after tax, comes to $138. This boils down to just under $2.16/sqft. Pat, if you are kind enough to pick it up, I will meet with you this weekend and hand over ahundred and forty dollar bill and we can get going on this. i just need to call in and get the paperwork filled out. I'm still game for this, and if there is enough people that are still on board I will get the ball rolling first thing Monday morning, or at least leave a message for Tom so that he can have the paperwork and product ready. Please either send me a PM, or post here if you are still interested, or even if you are backing out so I know what kind of interest remains.

Thanks to everyone for their patience in this, sorry for the delay.

FJ540, thanks for looking into your source, it just seems a little much for right now. $138 is one thing, $1000+ is another thing altoghther.

So you understand how light we are talking, up to .06 can be rolled pretty tight for shipping while anything thicker can't be at all. For my projects light would be fine. and YES I'll still take 4 feet cut any way that works out for others or the 2 allocated.

Do have a supplier I use for other plastics and I had checked with them but they are out of this world $$$$$

Although it is light, I think (for those in the know, please correct me if I'm wrong) it will still be suitale for holsters for small firearms, pocket holsters, to add rigidity to leather by sandwiching , or lining holsters/belts with it, and sheaths.

Another of my suppliers got back to me with price on .125 black of $187.86 plus tax and no shipping if anyone is interested. $174.99 if we got 2 sheets. Might be the same you are checking since your not sure of the name. Plastics International in Eden Prairie for these. Didn't get price on thinner.

I'm fine with whatever...... But at $175 a sheet for 2 sheets + tax, it brings the total to roughly 375, which brings the per sq/ft cost to about $6 per. Again, if this is the direction the group buy takes, I would have to have some pretty serious commitment from the folks involved to be on the hook for $375+. Not complaining, just saying.
Thanks for checking on this Larry, its not the same place since the place I looked into doesn't stock anything thicker than .060". Still seems like a screaming deal for what it is.

Yep, and you can get the same thickness by laminating two sheets of .060, but probably not the same stiffness. Still, might almost be too thick depending on the application.

i talked to a couple of folks in the "biz" who said that the .125" is simply too thick. Let's stick with the .060, and if anyone wants to get the uber thick stuff, they can get together in a different thread.

.125 happened to be the thickness I had pricing on. Waiting to hear on others but won't be until Monday for sure.

Yeah, I'm for going ahead with the thin cheap stuff as I'm still at the experimenting stage. And if I can roll it up, it'll be easy to get in the car.

cheap is good (better for current project for me anyway). We can always go for heavier sheet once we have pricing etc. I'll post the $$ when I get them.
