As of today I applied for the lifetime membership to the NRA, I hope it's going to be worth it.

The only downside--the incredible amount of mail from them telling you that the sky has fallen in the past week in Washington DC and if you don't send them money immediately the government will come and take all your guns. I suppose I get maybe 2-3 letters a week, every week, week after week, month after month, year after year all screaming the same message that our guns are on the verge of being seized. I know alot of people have taken advantage of their "unsubscribe from mail" option--I just have never gotten around to it.

I've been NRA Life since I was 20 -- gift from my parents. I'm currently paying off my GOA-Life membership.

Life member for 39 years and they quit asking for the extra ILA money after I didn't give them any in 20 years :D After that long just the magazine subscription is worth it.

I works too - I only get a few letters a year. Well worth the phone call.

You guys do know that when they come for the guns the first place they will look is the NRA members roster, right? I heard they consider the NRA Life members to be top priority. Read it on the web.

EPL member here. I've got to keep my membership up for my instructor certs anyways.

I've got no problem with being a member, but I'm realistic that our local rep is naive and pretty useless. It's the cost of dealing with a nationwide organization. There is strength in their numbers, but it doesn't always mean that our issues are a priority or understood.
