Just a heads up to everyone on the PayPal, First thing is that they are fervently anti. As if that in and of itself wasn't bad enough, they are not above locking accounts used for firearms purchases.

Next, with paypal, $200 for a gun quickly turns into $230 for a gun and paypal fees.
If you're reading this, there are better than even odds you are a d-bag.

Sending money
It's always free to send money to friends and family when you use your PayPal balance or bank account. Fees apply only if the sender uses a credit or debit card, or if you receive any payment for goods or services. There are also:

* No monthly fees to maintain a PayPal account.
* No setup fees.
* No gateway fees.
* No fees for multiple eBay and merchant tools.

Which is exactly what we are discussing.

Well, I have never, ever, ever, ever used paypal where there weren't fees involved, even sending money, but I guess if they have it in print, it must be true. :?

That still doesn't address this....

Which I think is reason enough to steer clear for this type of transaction. But then again, I don't have a dog in this fight. You all have fun.

I'm still waffling on whether I should jump on this or not, but seeing how we haven't worked out the mechanics it looks like I got time...

Doesn't paypal also have a monthly limit on how much money you can send/receive per account? Any one person may not be able to collect for everyone.

Theoretically if we had a FFL guy he could take credit cards which would accomplish the same thing.

And I don't even want one of these.

I hear stamps cost $.44 these days... Might be just as easy to mail a check and do it the old fashioned way.

Checks bounce. I guess you could wait for it to clear.

I seriously doubt that someone who has a permit would bounce a check. And if they did, someone should find their instructor and slap 'em!

I'm probably going to get appointed as the new VOR after this one, but here goes.......

Maybe..... Just maybe..... You could call this guy up with a list of names for the group buy, and then each pay him directly.

Everybody knows you just appoint yourself as the VoR. Thats how I did it.

But, can't say I disagree. Not everything needs to be a group buy through and through. Wouldn't the seller have to run a background check on each of the buyers anyway? I hate to say it but Strad...

I kind of thought the FFL holder you transfer the gun to might be swell and take care of that.
