You would be purchasing a Glock through this program from a locally authorized Glock GSSF dealer.

Anyone planning on shooting the Glock match at Oakdale in July either is or will be a GSSF member. It's a condition of the match.

In my limited experiance shooting handguns, and with glocks, I have learned that to truely find out if you like a gun or not, unfortunately often times you have to shoot quite a few rounds through it, on several ocasions.......renting on several ocasions can get spendy....

Unfortunately, often times a guy has to either have a friend with said gun, so he can borrow it several times, take it apart, clean it, shoot it, shoot it some more, etc....or just buy one, and if you don't like it, sell it. Many times if you try a gun, at first you think you either hate it or love it, but after a few sesions, you change your mind.....

If you buy used, and priced right, if you deceide you don't like it, you can usually re-coup most of your money, and chalk the loss up to "rental" expenses....If you do like it, and you want a new one, you can then buy a new one, with all the features that you have now come to realize that you want, and either keep the used one, or sell it as well.

Just my 2c.....
Never mind the typos. My keyboard is full of beer, crumbs and Dr. Peper........and .........the typo and grammer police can go to........HE..!.....no...wait a minute......California!

I have a G17 that has many thousands of rounds through it with no issues at all other than the one time we tried non-Glock manufactured magazines.....ooops.

If they shoot well for you, and you like it, they are a great tool.

That said, I bought mine over 15 years ago. Buying today, the S&W M&Ps are really nice. Many would say that they are better than perfection in many ways.

Good idea about renting several guns.

I would consider a M&P 9 or 40 compact also. Why? Many people who have large meaty hands like mine fit the M&P perfectly where as the Glocks point at the sky. So I only carry and shoot guns that point naturally for me. Why did Glock come out with '4th Gen' because people like myself hate their grips.

In the end, pick the gun that points well for you and you can control.

Note: Side Guard will be at the St Paul Fairgrounds show with all of my forms and you can do a test of various 'guns' for hand fit and ability to point properly.

I've got a G23, 22 and 17 you're welcome to come out and try at Delano Sportmens' Club if you'd like. The only think I ask is that you feed them what you shoot. 8-)

Very generous. I would like to extend the same offer at the Burnsville range. I may have 26, 19rtf2, 17rtf2, 34, 23, 32, 21sf, and 37.
At least that's what I had prior to an unfortunate ice fishing accident.

I don't really like Glocks, mostly for the aesthetic reasons Strad mentioned, but I shoot better with them than any other pistol, so it's what I carry (26) and compete with (21SF).

IIWY, I'd try an M&P40 and 40c (compact) along with a G23. I went to buy a G23 a few years ago and came home with an M&P40. I've since added a 9c and 9 Pro. Still no Glocks.

For the holster, I'm a big fan of the MTAC.

Seems you're planing to do this already, but if you buy a pistol, make sure it's of good quality, that way, if it doesn't work for you, you can still sell it for close to what you paid for it. If you buy something cheap, you might not even find someone willing to haggle with you.

The gun show at the fairgrounds starts at 8am Sat. & 9am Sunday.
I'll have a G23 as well as M&P 40 full size & compacts if you want to see how they feel.
And if you haven't already looked at them, come take a peek at the Springfield XD's.

All are excellent guns.
