There was a gentleman at the range in St. Cloud this last week with the colt version of the S&W .22. It looked like a real hoot to shoot, but when i asked how much it set him back, it was somewhere in the $700.00 range! Is there that big of a difference between the two, or are people just paying for the colt name?

Having used neither, my opinion is worth the ink its printed on, but everything I've read seems to indicate that the MP-22 is the better choice. Mags that fit in your mag pouches, a selector switch that stops at semi, a bolt catch/release that isn't a cosmetic molding, the list goes on.

Also its cheaper and so are the mags for it.

Those of you that have one...do you feel a click when the trigger resets? This one has that and it just doesn't seem right.

Mine has a very pronounced reset. You can definitely feel and hear it. Not sure if this is the same thing your talking about.
