Hammar,

Let me explain,
1. The manual of arms training time is based off of the recommended range time for each type of platform. This is in Micheal's book I believe the source is cited in there.
2. The ballistic penetration tests run by the FBI, stated the 40 short and weak penetrated deeper into soft tissue than .45 acp did. We could get into a over penetration debate, but as I understand this has been done before.
3. Carrying a 10 round mag for a 1911 is no day in the park. I've tried.

Enjoy you patron.

I was originally carrying a Kimber Ultra CDP II here in MN (as a civilian, mind you) and recently started carrying my Kimber SIS Pro instead. I like the larger size.

I think the Ultras as a 1911 are almost too small - I've been more of a fan of the Pro/Classic sized Kimbers..

Not sure, but evidently that person who created me, also had the power to destroy me.

Oh the irony of it all...

The argument for issuing everyone the same weapon/caliber has always been magazine/ammunition compatibility in a SHTF situation. That idea has some merit, although I doubt that needs comes in to play often.

And, while it may be an argument, I wonder how many LEO lives have been saved because, after firing all of their own ammo, they were able to share ammo and mags with another LEO?!?!?!

My guess is very, very few.

Heck, if more than a few magazines are fired, it ends up on the freaking history channel like the LA shootout.......
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

I just saw that show last weekend, and I have to say I wasn't impressed. The shaky camera thing is overdone these days, and showing the same re-enacted scene over and over and over nearly gave me vertigo. Add in all the inaccurate info about guns and I was wanting to ask for my money back. Except of course that it was on cable.

M&P45 - cheap, reliable, good capacity, and packs a punch

Seriously, their choice of taser is more critical.

Why is that? It's pretty much limited to two models these days...

I have always compared a lot of the people that own 1911's like a lot of the Harley owners. They both think they know what they are doing, so they do their own work on their's and that is why a 1911 will jam and a Harley will leak oil.

I just read an article of a PD that was unhappy with the 9mm because of lack of stopping ability, but had original went with the 9mm because of it's high capacity. When they upgraded, they went to the .40 S&W but then saw their officers having problems qualifying with he .40, too much recoil for them to get use to. Because of this, there was a need for additional training and ammunition, which increased costs. As of late, they have gone to the .45 acp and found the qual scores to go up, some officers even shooting a 100% that had not or could not with the .40 S&W.

So I would again support a .45 acp as the cartridge, maybe in a S&W M&P.

Cobb forgive my ignorance here, but why would shooting factory 45 cause qual scores to go up? From my experience 45 acp loaded up for defense, produces more recoil than a 40, at least in equivalent platforms.
