Wasn't that said about the Charles Daly 1911 when it came out?

Fixed that for you :D

I too dislike Kimbers, are they total crap? Not at all, have they had issues? Yes, but so has just about every MFG. The thing that I think ruined Kimber for me is Kimber owners. They ALL seem to think they are gods gift to man kind and that more than anything annoys me, their undeserved following is frustrating.

That's it exactly. Kimbers are ok, but they are prettier than they are top notch.

As for the MR, Springfield has this for $796.00:

I'm not a die hard Springfield fan or anything (I carry a Wilson), but they are an established 1911 manufacturer that is known for high quality a guns, whereas Magnum Research is an Importer.

Dude, you are a broken record. It seems as though every time the word Kimber comes up you post something derogatory and then tout Springfield. OK, we get it. You don't like Kimber.

Don't you know? One bad experience with one gun is now enough background to discount an entire brand of firearm. If one is bad, surely they all are.

OK Folks - Kimbers have issues that is why I do not own one - I have seen many many of them go down with failures that are not field fixable after firing about 500 rounds.

Then again I have seen Kimbers run flawlessly.

My point is Kimber charges a premium price and the gun is just OK. Many of the folks that spend a grand or more have troubles with FTF anlong with other issues. Just read the one of the Kimber forums and you'll get a pretty good idea that people have issues with these guns. My expereince was not good, but I agree one bad gun does not make a brand bad, what makes me question the quality is when you find out the issues are common and the manufacturer is changing anything to solve the issue.

If you have a Kimber and like it, great, but I would not recommond one or buy one at this point in time. If Kimber can make guns for 5-7 years without all the complaints then I'll look at them.
