I can understand that, but No. 4 Mk 1s seem to be quite abundent out there and the ones being sold now as surplus by Century are probably rebuilds from parts anyway...

So, picked on up at Fleet Farm. Seemed i decent shape. Cleaned her up good, lookec even better. Took it to the range, seems to shoot well, reasonable accurate with the peep sights.

Plans:
1) New stock, (found one on line I like, wood, raised comb and cheek), Really want to rework the after market stock with a good recoil pad, grip cap, under stock bullet trap, inlay a choice coin of my grand fathers, really make it fancy, I would like to fancy up the front end as well, not sure exactly what yet.

2) Refinish all the metal, Barrel a deep lux blue for sure, not sure on the other parts, thinking maybe some other finish to contrast with the barrel. WOuld also like to cut an inch from the barrel and recrown.

3) Mount a scope. Add a leather sling.

I'd be reeeeeealy tempted to make it look like this:

And since the L42A1 is a military firearm, you mightn't even have to suffer Benny's wrath!
