I'm a fan of 9mm also.. but a 1911 .45 will be my new EDC.

XDsc here. A copy I know, but more refined than those block guns. ;)

I am a fan of the caliber that I shoot the best. It is not about the Caliber - it is about good hits and follow up shots for me. I do not get enough practice time anymore to shoot a 45 well enough that I feel comfortable with it for EDC

I have found that the 9mm is about all that the average shooter can handle properly with little training. It is a basic round that has been getting the job done for over 100 years.

H&K P7M13 is probably the 9mm I trust the most out of all of my handguns. I have about 130,000 rounds through it and only 3 problems, two of which I induced one through cleaning, I broke the firing pin block spring and the other from lack of cleaning: I left cleaning under the extractor too long and the extractor ejected :x Although after both breakages, broken spring and even sans extractor, the gun ran, no problem.

An older Ruger P89. Simple, tough, no gimmicks. Heavy enough to reduce recoil. Cycles everything. Shoots where I point it. Grip fills my hand.

But if I carried everyday, it would be my Glock 19. Never know it''s there and it holds lots of rounds . . . even though I'd hate to every have to use them.

Since we are talking 9mm... I would have to say my most reliable handgun I own a S&W 6946.

Why? First carry gun and one I still carry. Second it fits my hands perfectly. Third, I have 8K+ trouble free rounds down range. Forth, I love stainless steel slides and AL frames. Fifth, very good DAO trigger with no backwards safety to worry about. Lastly, It carries like a dream.

Favorite 9mm I own: P7-PSP. Got it when they took a bunch out of service with German border patrol or some such. Bought the A-grade and it looked like new inside before I shot it. An earlier post noted it's super accurate, and the safety might confuse a bad guy that takes it away.

Favorite 9mm I might someday own: M&P9 FS. I currently carry the M&P 357sig FS, which as an earlier post noted, the 357mag has ballistics pretty similar to 9mm+p and I note the 357 sig has ballistics similar to the 357 mag (that was the whole point of the 357 sig). I imagine that if the bullet has the same weight and velocity out of the muzzle, and the gun weighs the same, the felt recoil should be the same (unless there's a radical difference in velocity profile in the barrel or gas mv). So a 9 firing +p or +p+ shouldn't be more controllable than a 357 sig. But it's a lot cheaper to practice with.

The only time I carried 9mm was before I got into Special Forces, after that it was all .45ACP in a Glock 21. I cant discuss the ammo its classified.

It's true.

He won't talk about it, because he's modest like that, but I've seen the BTDT shirts.

I'm running a group buy on the BTDT shirts if you want in. You have to be the real deal though you cant just be some ******* that talks a big game on the interweb.

Well that might be a bit problematic then.

- Does being an Internet Moderator give me enough street cred to get that done?

Maybe if you were a real moderator on a real forum, but you don't really do enough around here to be labeled a "real moderator".

Not really. I'm too used to government work, I just show up and collect a paycheck.

Hi folks,

I figured I better stop lurking and put up my 2 cents worth. I've been on plenty of boards for awhile but seeing as how we're representing the Peoples Republic of Minnesota, time for me to admit it and come in from the cold...........
Love my Hi Power. Lazer accurate, smooth as silk with the Hogue grips making the pistol fit like a glove I still like it better than most other pistols I've shot. With my Crossbreed IWB holster I can wear it all day and hardly know its there!
I have no desire to discuss stopping power and lethal calibers.........in handguns that is irrelevent!

#1 rule in a knife OR gunfight.......have a gun!

I've now invaded your board! :-{]}
