Illinois

I might have to move to Illinois(schaumburg area) fro a job. Any unusual gun related laws(other than chicago) I should be aware of. Any non gun concerns I should have about moving there?

Decrypt the points of departure and return your head slowly and you do not cancel your hair.

I think you'll want to stock up on ammo.

Illinois has horrible gun laws - I would highly recommend not living there.

The only places worse are Massachusetts and New York, honestly.

It would be a bit of a drive or train ride, but if you have to move down there living across the border in Indiana would be much better.

Iowa or Wisconsin would be closer to Schaumburg.

Buy one of those 200 MPG freeway speed capable scooters, and live in Iowa, that's my advice.

Then he'd have to live in...well...Iowa...

I own several freeway speed capable scooters. None of them approach anywhere near 200 mpg. Much closer to about 80 mpg. I'm just sayin'.

I don't own one, I just parrot the adds.

though if 80mpg is more realistic, a diesel jetta is probably a better choice.

And Iowa is better than the other options, IMO.

While Schaumburg is not necesarily known for it's crime, the state legislature, from what I gather, is dominated by Chicago area thinking and politics. This will limit the freedom you have grown accustomed to. Other than that, they seem to experience more thefts and rapes than the national average. http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Sc ... inois.html

I would even move to Wisconsin before going into Illinois. FYI It's about a 50 minute drive with no traffic from Schaumberg to the Indiana line on either 90/94 or 290/294/80.

Massachusetts and New York are much better than Illinois. Really.

When I was transferred to "Chicago" in 2000, I moved to Lake Geneva, WI. No CCW, but generally gun friendly, and much better than Illinois.....

Those of you suggesting IN need to understand that Gary (other side of the border from Chicago) is probably about a step and a half above Detroit. I don't like stopping for gas in Gary, and it's a decent hour before you find civilization beyond that rectum of a city (unless it's changed in the last 5 years).

We just stayed at the Hyatt Place in Shaumberg for a wedding on the 4th of July weekend. Very business district-like. Nice town, and the surrounding burbs are nice also. But like everyone else said, IL is a very anti-firearms state. The job would have to be very very enticing for me to even consider it.
