Judge Puts Hold on Key Arizona Immigration Law Provisions

Many immigrant families have begun fleeing the state afraid of the new law's impact, and some activists are even encouraging immigrants to check tail lights on their cars, not to travel in large groups -- and remove the Catholic rosaries from their rear-view mirrors.

The Justice Department, which filed its lawsuit earlier this month, says Arizona's law "crossed a constitutional line" and would disrupt the right and ability of the federal government to set and enforce national immigration laws.

Again ... did I miss a meeting, or something? Image

No, you didn't miss a meeting. The fact that the federal government has been ignoring national immigration laws is immaterial to the administration's case.

How come no one threw out the MN emissions testing, because that surely overstepped enforcing federal laws...

The AZ decision is a joke. The feds claiming it would overwhelm the INS in verification calls is preposterous. If ATF can run a background check for a gun purchase in under 1 minute, INS can check the status of a suspected border jumper.

Here's one thing I don't understand.
http://azstarnet.com/news/state-and-reg ... 002e0.html
Bolton separately said the state cannot make it a crime for illegal immigrants to seek work in this state.

She said Congress never intended to criminalize such conduct but instead intended to focus its penalties on companies that knowingly hire undocumented workers. The judge said that means the state law "conflicts with a comprehensive federal (immigration) scheme and is preempted."

Wouldn't anything done by someone in the country illegally, be illegal?
our quarrel is not about the value of freedom per se, but stems from our opinion of our fellow men … a man’s admiration of absolute government is proportionate to the contempt he feels for those around him --Alexis de Tocqueville--

I want you all to know that the illegal population now has more rights than the legal population. They are now a protected class of individuals who reap everything and sow nothing. Please refrain from smashing them in the face when they rub it in yours because your **** ass will be the one hauled off to jail. We are living in a country where laws no longer mean anything for certain people. This judge had nothing to do with this, it shall all be laid at Barack Hussein the cowards’ feet.

I shall now commence in refraining from referring to him as the President. I held out as long as I could to show the office the respect it deserves but instead (mentally) a black sheet is now draped over the WH in remembrance.

God Bless America and we shall see you again one day.................I stand by my Oath....... :salute:

Disgusting is the only word I can think of at the moment to describe this.

The evening news interviewed some guy off the street tonight who was concerned that his family might have to move, because they've been here ILLEGALLY for 10 years... Arrrgh!! WTF!!??!?!?

Seriously, what can a guy here in MN do to help the cause? Arizona is taking the bull by the horns and trying to pave the way for at least 18 other states and I would like to do more than just sit here and type my frustration into the net while this battle is raging. Any ideas? Is there some place I can donate to where I know it will have a direct impact (I prefer to avoid politicans if at all possible)?

The feds position on this is just an insulting disgraceful crock.
