For decades, the National Rifle Association has been fighting gun-control efforts in Congress and across the country on behalf of its 4.3 million members. But the old "guns vs. no guns" debate that was once the face of the American gun movement is being transformed into a "guns vs. more guns" issue, and the NRA is now feeling the heat from its own backyard.

Small, focused, pro-gun, grassroots groups like Belanger's believe the enormous organization has become too bureaucratic and conservative to focus on their local issues... .

This has been going on for years. The NRA has lost the pulse of the nations gun owners, as well as the conservative 3/4's of the nation. Wayne Lapierre really really needs to find a new job.

Quoting ABC? ... may as well quote these guys ... http://www.gunguys.com/

I ain't posted recent stuff I've read about the NRA ... on ABC, even. Didn't think I'd need to. Image

What I've seen/read in the past few months of the NRA ... on ABC ... and elsewhere ... I've never been more impressed with Mr. LaPierre (sp?), Chris Cox, and Co. No question ... these guys know their way around D.C. ... and then some. My lifetime dues are VERY well spent! Image

The Brady Bunch has become very stealthy. They put out ******** like this to get would-be NRA members to second-guess their intentions. In some cases, even current members lose their way. This is the same kinda "marketing" that got people to actually go to the polls and vote for Osama.

About 6mo after I joined, I emailed 'em with my NRA# to ask them to cease mailing me those ridiculous offers ... which they promptly did. Since then, they've never asked me for another penny ... and done nothing but make life miserable for the likes of Dianne Feinstein, Chuck Schumer ... and who was that douchebag they ousted from SD?

Today, most Devilcrats absolutely refuse to take any stance on the 2nd Amendment ... some even have "A" ratings with the NRA. I think I read recently ... on ABC, even ... fer 2010, 26% of their campaign contributions will go to Devilcratic candidates. Ya! ... they're too "conservative".

I should really send them another check ... they've EARNED it! :flag:

I'll guess approximately 4.3 million (http://www.nraila.org/Issues/Faq/?s=27). Image

As I heard on a few deallies discussing the topic, that number's always a guess. Ain't sure what, if anything, they use to arrive at that ... 1 in 3, 1 in 4 ... depending on what year it is? Image

Thing is, even if someone did go door to door ... or, let's say, it was a question on the Census, how many folks would truthfully answer? Would you? Image

I know guys who won't even tell their own Dr. Image

I look at it this way ... there's folks who've got guns ... and folks who don't. Some of the folks who don't, don't care about the folks that do. Some of 'em, do. I know, if I didn't own a gun, I'd be concerned about who DID. So, I think every man ... and every woman ... needs to ask hisself/herself "do I wanna be someone who owns a gun ... or do I wanna be someone who don't?"

I'm just guessing ... which is all, anyone's doin' ... but I'd be VERY surprised, if less than HALF of Americans didn't own at least one shotgun or a rifle ... 'specially after November 4th, 2008 ... in fact, I believe most of 'em are .380's. Image
