This makes no sense. Why only $69?

Timeshare sales. Maybe desperation, too.

There are no timeshare sales and there haven't been for at least 5 years.
Desparation, I doubt it, they run 6 to 800 students per weekend.
This is a midweek class and as far as I understand it, it's the opening promotion for the midweek classes which will happen from next month onwards.

Grab a deal while you can.

This is very tempting, but I keep thinking "its a trap".

Course: $69
Background check: :$50
Plane flight: ~250
Hotel ~ 400
Ammo: a LOT

and the chance that i'm walking into some sort of hard sell situation...

Anyone gonna sign up for this offer? Anyone gone to this training before, if so how is it? I'm interested in it might have to convince the significant other though :)

I didn't sign up -- but in my NRA Instructor class w/ DonL a month or so ago - there were 3-4 folks in class that had been to Front Sight and spoke highly of the training - just not the customer service.

I think I"ll keep saving up for Gunsite.

I've heard the training is good, but what keeps me from wanting to go there is the cringe-inducing, wannabe-viral marketing compliments of Dr. Pizza.

Guys,

Get over it, the training is some of the best I've had and I've trained in a bunch of countries, we're going back for the third trip in November, over the weekend, there is one "Soft Sell" for lifetime membership and the rest is all (training) business. Yeah the marketing is OTT, but for $69 you can look past it.

The staff are great, very knowledgeable and good teachers, the Pro-shop is only slightly overpriced, when they could kill you, there is nowhere to buy gun stuff within an hour's drive. The facilities are very good, the ranges are phenomenal, the only down side id there are no conventional plumbing bathrooms, that said the porta-johns are everywhere and are serviced daily.

If you want to know what goes on in the 4 day class, see:

I'll second what Benny said. I was there for the same class in April with 4 friends, and it was nothing short of phenomenal. As we were leaving we were discussing how soon we could come back. All of us learned a lot even though we had widely varying experience. Almost the whole time is spent on the range. Their training methods are sound and safe. You will shoot a lot, you will be challenged, and you will learn. It would surprise me if anyone would go through this class and not feel that it was both valuable and fun.

You will also get a couple of chances to buy different types of memberships. No high pressure at all, and no significant amount of your valuable time wasted. It would not surprise me if some of you that go do choose to buy a membership. If I had had the cash at the time I probably would have bought one.

When this $69 deal came out, I bought 2 right away, and my brother (who was there in April with me) bought 3. We certainly wouldn't be going back if we didn't feel that it was worth it, even though there are substantial costs beyond the $69.

If anyone wants some additional info, especially regarding ammo, lodging lunches, etc., send me a PM.
