WTB 45-70 govt dies

Postby Stradawhovious on Mon Sep 27, 2010 6:02 am

I know its a long shot, but I've been known to get lucky with this kind of thing. :D

Looking to buy a set of used 45-70 govt does. If anyone has a set they aren't using, let me know!

Seems to be gittin' popular. :|

I just shot my '86 Saturday at Bald Eagle ... there was only 2 RO's on the 100yd range, and one had a target from shooting his 1895, to show me.

Also just got my new Shooting Times Friday, and it had an article on ... "loading .45-70", IIRC ... I don't know ... I just skimmed it.

Try and do a little summary next time. We'll all feel safer. I need a set of 30-30 anyway (I know they have those). I'll check for your 45-70.

A set of new Lee Dies in .45-70 is pretty cheap from Midway USA, and the Hornady ones are pretty close in price too.

Not one set of used dies available form you folks? Surprising. Thanks for the heads up on retail sites, I may have to go that route. For now, I'm just gathering brass and data. I won't start reloading this flavor until I make sure the rifle stays together when fired anyways so I have a little time.

Never mind. I've decided to go with the Lee Classic Loader for this particular caliber. Somehow it just seems fitting.

A Lyman 310 Tong Tool would add a little historicity to reloading for this caliber. 8-)

Just saw this. I've got a set of RCBS dies with shell holder and ~40 rounds of once fired brass (mixed) that I'm not using. PM me if interested.
