Girly up the gun!

Postby Tickledpink on Mon Sep 27, 2010 7:10 pm

I have joined the club and actually am the proud owner of a gun now. A big special thanks to Strad for the wonderful birthday present of the 9mm Tanfoglio. Don't get me wrong...I still love the hell out of the 625 but this one is much more practical for a carry gun and fits my hands so much better.

This is my questions to all the ladies on the board, do you all know of some good site's that I can girlie up the gun a bit? I know that Shipyard's woman has some pretty spiffy pink grips for her Berreta, but I am not sure of where to get them and don't want to get ripped off.
Also, I am going to need a holster of some sort. I know Sriggs makes some pretty ones. Here is my stupid question of the night, are holsters different for men and woman?

I still appreciate Strad's opinion but other opinion's are great too.

What model Tanfoglio is it? You could get a duracoat job done on it in the color of your choice. Could also get it engraved with whatever suited your fancy. I don't believe there are many "girl" accessories for the Tanfoglio... If you're entrepreneurial it could be a big market though.

check the houge home site to see if there's any pink grips for a tang. i'd recommend talking with srigs and getting a nice pink inlay holster or other such custom job. i remember looking through vlads bin of goodies and he had some wicked cool pink ostritch feet and lizard skin. died pink and purple stingray too if i remember right - all totally bad azz.

a nice pink duracoat job could be hooked up pretty easily around here also i would think... :D

super glad for the both of you!! congrats!!!

You might want to check out http://henningshootsguns.com/shop/eaa.main.html for Tangfo stuff. You will need to figure out if your gun is large or small frame. If its a Witness with accessory rail its large frame, if its an older TZ75 it is a small frame. For the small frame Tangfo's most CZ75 grips will work, as will CZ75 holsters.

Well, now we know its a small frame, you can start looking. http://tz75man.forumco.com/default.asp is a brand spanking new forum built around the Tangfo's. For holsters and other questions http://www.czforumsite.info is a great place to troll around, particularlly look at the Clone Club there's a lot of good Tangfo advice hanging out between those two. Another good place to ask questions is in the Brian Enos forums in the EAA/Tangfo factory section http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showforum=202, or in Hennigs section of the same site http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showforum=159. Hope this gets you further in your search!

I think a Duracoat job would be pretty sweet. Any thoughts on a price or where I could go for that?

$140 over at http://keelersgunsmithing.com/servicesfor_sale. That may be for a long gun, it could be cheaper if you call and talk to him. $100-150 at Ahlmans http://www.ahlmans.com/duracoat.html.

These are the certified finishers in Minnesota... If that BTA90 is in really good condition you might want to find a pistol that's a bit more beat-up to have refinished. I would have a hard time justifying refinishing a like new firearm. :)

Tickled-

A belt holster for concealed carry for men and women is usually the same. A woman usually prefers a drop holster for gun games. It'll help you to achieve a better draw. For instance, a drop holster is legal for women in IDPA where it is not for men. That same drop holster would be more difficult for you to conceal then a standard holster.

Go to Ryan(he's the gunsmith) at Bills in Robbinsdale. We shoot with (or against) Strad at all the matches and he can do a bunch of different pink or other shades of duracoat for you at a great price!

Show up at the Burnsville match with Strad in 2 Thursday's from now and I'll introduce you to him.
