just bought my first handgun!

Postby seethesvt on Mon Oct 18, 2010 12:10 pm

I've been researching which gun i wanted to buy for months. I wanted a 9mm cuz its gonna see alot of range time and also be my home defense pistol. I was set on the ruger p95 for a week or two, great price and great reviews. Then I went to j&s custom guns to get a feel for some guns. They didn't have the p95 but they had the p94 and I didn't like the feel. So I held some more and really liked the Glock. I also liked a Springfield he showed me, but it was really heavy and I wanted something that would be easy to carry when I get my permit to carry, before I get me one of them lcp's. So, I liked the 17 and the 19, but thought the 26 was too small. Since I might be carrying it someday I opted to get the G19.
My nics check was delayed, which was on Saturday, and this morning I brought my pistol home. But not before i went to fleet farm and bought 300 rounds of winchester target rounds and 20 winchester pdx1 personal defense. I got home, made a Plano box into a cleaning kit and proceeded to give it a little cleaning before I headed out to the burnsville pistol range right down to street. I packed her up and headed out, not before I checked the website for their hours. When I got there I found out they were closed. Now I have to wait til tomorrow to test my skills with my new toy.
My dad and I just got into guns. He owns a couple tiny mouse guns and now that I have a Glock he wants, and is going to buy, the g17. I plan on going for my carry permit course in November. Then in the late winter I will get my little lcp. Pretty neat hobby.

Congrats on the fine piece of hardware...Did you get a chance to shoot a glock at all before making your decision? I like mine, I shoot it well, but the grip angle bothers some people who can't adapt...

RE: "conceal carry permit" ... before you get hammered to hard by the members here, take a look at my blog post.... "Concealed Carry in Minnesota"

I like my G17 but my wife has trouble shooting it. She shoots the M&P better.
Rob nice blog. When do you have time to keep up with everything?

Yes, unfortunately there are a lot of unscrupulous TupperWare salesmen lurking trying to convince people to trade in their Rubbermaid bowls..............
Actually, TupperWare is a term used to describe Glocks because of their Polymer Components.

Get ready to be piled on by the 1911 Guys................

Nice choice I own an G26 and a G36 and both work well for me. I've thought about an LCP myself. Good luck.

But Tupperware is dishwasher safe!! Just strip the gun, put it in the diswasher, and add soap!!

Nice choice and an excellent starter gun since they are simple and when the time comes they are stupidly easy to trade for other things.

We generally keep our trolls justa under control so do not worry.

As has been said tupperware is a backhanded comment made up to describe glocks due to the "plastic" nature of these guns although it is often applied to almost any polymer gun. It is simply something to ignore or as tacticalninja is trying to do worn as a badge of honor.

The worst thing about glocks? The grip angle and shape.

The best thing about glocks? You can take a torch to them and fix the above problems.
