gun storage at a shooting range?

Postby Carl_Spackler on Wed Oct 20, 2010 5:44 pm

I don't know how many of you are members of gun clubs but I was curious if there were any in MN that allowed you to store your firearm at the club? my wife won't let me keep a firearm in the house and so my rifle has to stay at her mom's house at the farm. I want to circumvent the farm and keep it someplace closer where I can have immediate access to it should I want to use it for hunting or whatever. any ideas?

You could get a new wife but that costs a lot of money and hell she would probably end up with your gun anyway.
Why won't she let you keep it in the house? Have you ever taken her shooting? I don't think the problem is where to keep your gun. It's why you can't keep it at YOUR house.

The problem with leaving thew gun at someplace (like a range) is that if they have an FFL they will need to document that it is on their premises. Most places don't want the liability of having something of yours around. Kind of like how gunsmiths have to log the firearms in and out if they don't want heat from the BATFE.

Won't let you? Is this your wife or your mother?

Seriously dude if this is the case you have bigger issues. You are both adults you need to work out how your marriage will work long term. If one party "will not allow" something that is important to the other without some discussion, comprimise, or understanding, it will not last. IMHO and while I will never claim to be an expert especially in this area I do have some past experiance. ;)

I think she won't let him have a firearm in the house, because if he had one he could use it to put himself out of his misery.

ouch!

anyhow is there any reason as why not? do you have a safe? i mean i'm pretty sure if i just keep firearms on top of the coffe table my wife would't be so happy about it but as long as they are locked in a safe she don't care. but if she "won't let you" keep them in a safe then i think Belgiboy advice would most likely do the trick

Put in a locked security container. She asks what's in it, tell her she's not allowed to know.
