They started listing these rules and I though so much for being practical. Hey its a game no matter what version you play. Come on IPDA guys you have to admit it this is just a little true.

They are absolutely games with their own rules, procedures, score is kept, etc. I have put a lot of holes in cardboard in IDPA ( OK not has many or nearly as quickly as some ) but no cardboard IDPA target has ever returned fire.

The Glock factory rep is shooting with us tonight at the I Don't Practice Anymore match Joe, Want to tell him about your fun new game, Glock, paper, scissors where the Glock beats nothing. Maybe Warren the factory Glock rep will be shooting a 1911 tonight. I was going to shoot the M&P Pro, but Glock 34 is it since Warren is attending.

So you should be giving great thanks to IDPA for providing USPSA with a source of shooters. :P

Or, IDPA should be giving great thanks to USPSA for its very existence. ;)

Actually, a few years ago I went to an IDPA match and was given a lot of grief for refusing to do "tactical" mag changes.

In real life, I shot the weapon dry then reloaded, or I reloaded when not engaged or running around in the open. I am not going to do some dumbass tactical reload just because someone tells me to reload "behind the third drum on the right before engaging target C." Why, you ask? Because I am going to **** SHOOT target C before I reload if I have ammo and I know he's there!!!! :wack:

Anyhow, it turns out that if you shoot dry, drop the mag and reload, you get a penalty. It also turns out that if you beat some guys after getting that penalty, they act all pissed off and try to say you are "gaming" which is crap, because I could GAF about their rules. [/rant]
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

That's my point, you can shoot the stage how you see fit with whatever your idea of proper tactical is, and just take a couple seconds of penalties, or you can "compete" , follow the rules and try to win the match.
How could you have a timed competition without rules?
It is a game, competition, whatever, if you don't like it, play something else.[not meant to be harsh, just a statement]

I shoot IDPA, I have won my class/division for the last 2 years so I guess I'm "gaming"
that being said, I do a few things the "slower' way, because I do not want to unconciously train myself to do something that I think is a bad idea in the "real world".

Any competition will produce pressure and stress and therefore have at least some real world value in getting used to performing under less than relaxed conditions.

Ha, that reminds me I remember Leo complimenting you on moving around cover "like a snake".

Don't know about USPSA rules, but I see no reason to avoid an IWB holster for IDPA. It's true people need to learn how to reholster safely but it's not hard, and we both know plenty of guys with OWB holsters still manage to threaten their kidneys while they feel around with the muzzle. And especially if you carry IWB, you should learn how to do it right, right?

In real life there is not a DQ, just DOA.....so I don't think that they score that........
and goalie I have enough penalty points to cover me for the next 10 years............... :P

I realize that you can shoot it however you want to, I was just really disappointed with the whole "gamer" vibe and mentality. I would have enjoyed it a lot more without some jerkoffs that I don't know bitching at me because I was doing the course of fire the way I really would and not trying to juggle magazines like a monkey **** a football. And, reality check, if you find yourself in any position to bitch about me out-shooting you with a handgun, regardless of whether or not I "cheat" at magazine changes, you have other things to bitch about. Lots of other things.

In the end, I can train however I want without paying to do it just about anytime I want to. Then, at least the only one bitching is me.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

Was it bitching or just trying to explain the rules?

It's a game, it's not tactical training.

Please don't take personal offense when you don't feel like following the rules, or complain about a CSO bringing it to your attention.

Enjoy it for what it is, a fun day at the range, with like-minded folks, where you can run around and shoot paper with freinds.

Just think of all the tacticool gear you will have the excuse to buy ;) :D

I have stayed out of this because my views are well known.

If its only a game take the word practical or defensive out of the titles.

These were all started to be training/as close to real life as practical events.
