On the something different front I would consider a Ruger Mark I,II, III or Browning Buck Mark.

the sigs are kinda picky on what ammo they will eat(mine and most of the range guns at Bill's only like CCI mini-mags and even then they are so so) and the front sights tend to disappear when you don't want them to.

My Walther's OK. Not real accurate and its had to go back 2 times for spring issues in the trigger mechanism. but it functions much better than the sig when it works.

I would not buy either of them again knowing what I know now.

Go with a Browning Buck Mark or Ruger MK2 (used) or MK3 if you really want it to work all the time

i have a mark I, and i want to try and find something a little different the ruger/browning/ beretta they seem to be very similar in size/shape.
but just as evrytime i bought a gun i start with an idea of what i was looking at and in the process i find others that seem good too. so here is my list and if you know anything about any of these guns (good or bad) please let me know that might make it easier to decide.
Walther p22 ($331)
Sig Sauer mosquito ($350)
ATI 1911-22 ($321)
Chiappa firearms 1911-22 ($241)
Umarex USA colt 1911-22 ($362)
EAA tanfolio witness combo 45acp/22lr ($535)

EAA tanfolio witness combo seems like a good idea to me... or a 1911 with a .22lr conversion kit.

Although I'm not huge on S&W, they have the 22A you can pickup cheap...

My first choice on that list would be the witness....mine worked great. then I got stupid and sold it.

I would never buy anything from Umarex since I have not seen anything they make actually work I only see them going back for repairs, usually not successful repairs :-( and they suck trying to get in contact with on the phone.

Haven't heard anything either way on the ATI or Chiappa but wasn't there somewhere posted on here a broken slide from the ATI?

I have a Sig Mosquito that I bought from a forum member here - I am quite happy with it.

That 22A (S&W) is a heck of a deal for the price. Mine runs like a top. It's also pretty hand-filling - almost like a real gun. I'm on about my 7th or 8th plastic buffer, but heck, they're free. If you want something classy, get a 41 or an old Hi Standard.

Well if money is not an object(and it always is at my house) I can highly recommend a Smith Model 41. For my money one of the finest 22 autos ever made.

I have had a Sig mosquito and a P22. Bought them for Jackson as he was growing up and beginning to compete. The Sig was very picky on ammunition. Only thing it reliably cycled and fired was CC! mini mags. It was a cool looking gun with a lousy trigger, mediocre accuracy, a high price tag, and a stunning lack of reliability. It's gone. The P22 is cool looking also, and ran OK once I pulled it apart. Not very accurate, crappy trigger, and cheap. It's gone.

I'm a super huge fan of Ruger Mark 2 guns with bull barrels. I've got two of the slab sided stainless competition guns. Both are scary accurate and have great triggers. Jackson used one to terrorize and humble adults in the steel challenge league back in PA, consistently turning in sub 3 second runs. Got one for $250 ( stole it! 8-) ) and the other for $315. Just picked up a short barreled mk2 22/45 for my younger son to start on. It was $235 out the door. Took it to Burnesville Pistol Range today. It's accurate, relatively light, and easy to shoot.

I've never heard a bad word or witnessed a bad thing about Browning Buckmarks or Smith and Wesson 41s.

I own approximately 12 .22 pistols and the only ones that work 100% are my revolvers and my Browning Challenger (Belgian made 8-) !). Otherwise the Rugers and the Buckmarks are hands down your best bet for your $$$. The Sigs (including the trail sides) are touchy at best and the only S&W I have had luck with is my 41. Hope this helps... It also seems to be the popular theory on the rimfire forum I go to frequently. Most the other guns take a lot of TLC, tuning, or are very ammo finicky in my experiance.

For what its worth I do know people that have good luck with sigs and bad with Ruger and Browning but this is to be expected as all of them can have there issues.

Beretta Neos. Accuracy and reliability. Also reasonably priced.

Beretta Bobcat in .22lr is not a bad gun... solid as hell. .32ACP is somewhat of a different story though.
