so for everything i learned here plus talking to a few people at Bills the sog the walther the chiappa, umarex, suck at best.
beretta neos, ruger mark series, and browning are pretty good. does anyone know about the eaa witness? i handled one today and i like the size and feel of it, does anyone know about reliability? i'm sure that with 45 it will have no problem but what about the .22?

Two options not discussed,

The two versions of the 87 Beretta .22, a very very well made gun. pricey, but outstanding and accurate gun

1911 conversion top ends. if you like 1911's and have one, getting a marvel or Kimber ,22 top end is a great choice.

My wife has the Kimber .22 in stainless and loves it. It's a full size 1911 style pistol that has target sights and is also reliable. I don't shoot it as good as I do the Neos, but my wife does so its not the gun.

One .22 I really like is the conversion top for my SIG P226. For some reason it is tons more reliable than the Mosquito, eats about anything, even the Remington bulk pack the Mosquito hates, and it's pretty dang accurate. The downside is, you gotta get a P226 first, but the upside is, you get a P226. :)

I have several ISSC M22 autos that I us for my training. http://www.issc-austria.com. They fit in the same holster that works for a Glock and have the feel of a Glock and S&W M&P. I have been using .22’s for training for 10 years now. I have 6 advantage arms conversions for Glock also. The m22 is now my most favorite gun (also cheap) my cost was $239 as a dealer. All .22 pistols have feed problems just not much power to operate the gun. If you couple it with the poor quality of the ammo in general, none are bullet proof when it comes to functionality in my opinion. M22’s work super with Remington golden bullets. My training guns are Ruger mark II’s and M22’s now. .22’s are spun when they introduce the primer mixture that is wet into the case. A bubble or any type of void will create a miss fire. That’s why if you put it back in and it hits a different spot on the case rim it goes off. Just to let you know how much I use .22LR. I went through over 26 thousand rounds of .22 last year. Another thing that helps is to lubricate the cases. I put the ammo in an ice cream bucket. I lightly spray the ammo with Rem oil then I move them around with my hands. This alone almost eliminates feed/extraction problems for me. Just my opinion.

Joe which model # m22's are you using?

looks like the 111002 is the same size as a glock 19 or 17 and the 111001 is comparable to a 26

are you asking about the .22LR conversion kit?

if so, they can be hit or miss. The older ones were problematic.

The newer ones are "supposed" to be better, but until you try one its hard to say.

Like most conversion kits - they can be picky about ammo.

I am using the M22 it looks just like a Glock 19, fits in most g19 holsters. It’s a little bigger than the 19 so it is a snug fit in some holsters. The cheap plastic holsters work best for the M22. I have been using .22lr for trigger control, target acquisition. It needs to be broken in with a lot of oil for the first 300 rounds. I am switching to all M22 for my classes.

I have the lasted Advantage arms conversions dated 2006. They are problematic. They need to be real clean and you must use 40grn bullets or they will malfunction. Dedicated 22’s are the way to go. Also advantage arms conversions are very ammo specific. Dyna point is the best I found to work in them and are expensive. I am really done with them all together now. in my opinion

I got so excited again about the M22 I JUST ORDERED 2 MORE TO DAY!. It comes in a 5 inch barrel now I see, but no one has them in stock at the distributers that I could find. It also has a threaded barrel option so you can put a suppressor on it, I just may have to try that. I also have 3 Beretta 21’s in .22lr as well as a .32 wide slide. That is a great gun also, but the magazine is a little short on capacity for target shooting. I have lots of extra mags and load them in advance. :?

If anyone is interested, here is my experience with the Colt/Umarex AR15 .22LR. Dave and I Purchased one this summer around for around $500 each because we shoot CMP together. We felt it would be a good training tool to supplement our NM rifles. They come with 1 30 round magazine and after it was broken in it was rock solid. I used it to practice before the matches; I would get there early and shoot about 3 magazines at up to 100-200 yards to get in the zone. It looks just like a .223 colt and has about the same feel a few pounds lighter. For plinking it’s just too much fun. I have 5 magazines for it and it’s really easy to go through several hundreds of rounds in no time walking around the woods seeing what you can hit, not living things! I do not think I have ever shot it where I did not shoot 200-300 rounds. I have shot the S&W version with the plastic receiver and it’s a toy. Conversion kits leave you with the wrong barrel twist and are not accurate enough I tried them also. :?

i have a Sig Mosquito .22lr. I love the feel of the gun. It is very picky on ammo ( CCI works best) the magazines are pricey and the trigger is.... well ... it sucks. I like the feel... it feels like a larger caliber gun in your hand. I bought a Ruger MarkIII with a bull barrel. It will eat everything... its accurate... enjoyable to shoot.... but it is a son of gun to take apart or better said... it is tough to put back together.

I think you can't go wrong with the Ruger MarkIII or similar... my friends like the Browning Buckmarks too. My Sig is for sale.
