Out of sight, out of mind. ;)

The cops they hire to do door duty are obviously casing everyone for a print, but I'm not sure they'd do anything if they made you. Probably more for keeping the show's insurance people happy.

UHHH!!! Excuse me??? How many of you maroons missed the Gopher Breakfast a week ago and are now bitching about breakfast?? If you had been there and chowed down properly, you could be doing Smith 500 impressions instead of cheaply squeaking out your backside....

I'm heading over there soon. Hoping to find a Tapco stock for my SKS... think there might be any?

I just got back. A few observations.

Nice:
- LOTS of stuff there. Except the *one* thing I went looking for, but it was a rather specific item (turkey choke for a Browning BPS shotgun). I don't know what is a good deal and what isn't, but odds are you'll find both here.

- I'm developing an affinity for the M1 Garand. Such a pretty gun. And anything bullpup. Make a bullpup 1911, then maybe I'll buy one.

- I'm confident that no one will ever be able to successfully invade America. Unless they are aliens and use a scorched earth campaign, but then nothing really matters if they do that, does it?

Naughty:
- People need to learn to market better. Most booths didn't have the vendor's name displayed (which is extra annoying, because I was looking specifically for Thunderjohn's exhibit). The setups were ... well, amateurish. Spend a few bucks, get some bling going, and look like a pro! If you have any questions as to what that means, go next door to the golf exhibit.

- Related to that... no booth babes? Seriously? 95%+ of the audience is white 50+ potbellied males with extra cash on hand. You'd think that one or two bikinis appropriately deployed would help with traffic just a wee bit.
To the two forum members who have used lines from my posts as their signatures, can't you quote Jesse Ventura or some other great Minnesotan instead of stealing mine? - LePetomane

Mark and I must have been near a Gopher attendee. Not sure if t was an SBD or the ambient noise level covered the muzzle blast, but someone dropped a long and frightful vapor trail :hide:

Other than that, a pretty good show. Several good deals out there, just nothing I needed. Came close to twitching over a 12gauge 870 magnum with deer barrel for $195. I managed to control myself. Barely.

I need more sleep or caffeine or something...I walked right by thunderjohn and user842 (both of whom I've met before in person), and it took badger pointing John out and user coming up to me before I realized it.

AND...

Apparently I failed to spot shippy the first time I passed him (but at least I saw him when he came up later). For those who know shipyard...forget condition white, I was in condition dead.

ETA - badger is lying. He was in full on twitch. He just managed to not twitch toward his wallet. :?
Back to being just a guy.
No, not that guy. Or that other one either.

Would have been 98%+ had I been there.

WAIT - Was that user842 at John's booth when you and I were there? How in the world did I not know that?

Damnit!

I made it out with only the Walther P22 that John had gotten in for me - my father didn't find what he was looking for. And the 2 HK91s I found weren't in great shape and were extremely overpriced... so I moved on :)

Dad found his turkey chokes at Joe's Sporting Goods :)

Was great to meet badger and mokern (finally!)

I won't publicly out which guy, but yes, that's who I was in the booth talking to.
