Yes it is a shame that there are some people who will put themselves in front of a camera or go to a match for all to see their ****ups. Then there are people who sit at home and p**s and moan how great they are, but never show up to prove it.

I'm disappointed that the guy with 5 kids was the first to go. But, it's probably for the best anyhow. I imagine somebody had already **** all over the kitchen floor and they needed him home to clean it up. (I speak from experience)

What I think is interesting is how a screw up should be considered during the elimination. Do you want to ax a guy, knowing that his forte might be coming up? On the other hand, judging from last season, shooting the 1911 that round is probably the closest all the pistol guys will get to a USPSA type of game. The rest of the show will be axes, archery, rifles, and esoteric handguns.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

My boy Jermaine got beaten by a Effin GOLF PRO! WITH A TEACUP GRIP! ON A FIREARM PLATFORM HE HAS TRAINED WITH FOR PROBABLY 20 YEARS!

Jay the golf pro was right though, he had em in the mind, IN THE MIND!

Goes to show that mental is a huge part of the game, going with the flow. It drives me nuts though that Jay doesn't index his damn finger ever when he's running around, and he's got crap muzzle control.

Best line from Jay the golf pro:

"I knew that this gun (the glock 17) was shooting low and to the left for me, so I made sure I aimed at the bottom plates only."
:rotf: Man, too bad they didn't let him sight it in!

I watched one episode of this season, and that was too much.

I gotta disagree, I think the competition this year is better and more interesting. Plus it's the only show really like it on cable, and it's not like everything has to be emmy worthy. Until someone can put up another similar show they like better, then I guess hater's gotta hate. :D

I think you mis-understand. I never said I did not like it. Just not as good as last years in my opinion. Last year they just seemed more genuine of characters. This year seems a bit more gimicky.

I shot a couple IDPA matches here-

They have a zip line moving targets. Seriously challenging for the adult a.d.d. crew.

Yea, the second part of my post was more directed at FJ540. I can see what you mean by the golf pro as being gimicky, but last year they had some pretty random/lame contestants too.

BTW, I'm still shocked that that guy blew both his hamstrings jogging 30 yards in the first event bad enough to outright quit in the third episode. Did some of these contestants expect they were going to be rolling around in a little rascal while they shoot?

Last night was the first episode I watched, but I did check the "golf pro's" bio. He qualified for the 2004 Olympic Trials in archery - no small feat, there.

IIRC, they had non-gunnies on the show last year, too. Besides, the show is purportedly designed to test the contestants' abilities across a broad spectrum of weapons. If that's the case, it would only make sense that they allow contestants with non-gun backgrounds to compete.

Kinda the point I was making. I think you would see a better overall competition if they selected folks with more variety of experience in shooting. If they had folks that had done rifle, pistol, archery, shotgun shooting, verse some of the very specialized shooters the competition might be more interesting. Look at most sports it is not the person that is best a one skill but the generalist that can do many things well that wins.

I also think the vote part is kinda a joke, let the competition weed out the weak.

This is a good point and could be seen in the backgrounds of the finalists last season.

At least they get to shoot mano vs mano after the vote thing. Technically you could win the thing getting voted off every time, you just had to beat the other guy. Makes the vote thing less lame IMHO.

The reason I don't care for it (not dissing anyone who enjoys the show), is that there's too much drama bullpucky and not enough action. It's survivor (I've never watched a full episode of that either) with weapons. Not my bag. ;)

I watched the entire first season, and I've given up hoping for better out of the producers. If you eliminated all the interpersonal crap, and had a 15 min show of the shooting/competitions, I'd be on it like Shippy and cheap pistols.
