Even though I don't agree with the wording, NDB_MN isn't completely off the mark. Having a simple system can be a great advantage. I have a Colt Series 80 with over 100,000rds through it that I wouldn't trade for anything coming out of Austria (we can talk about the right HK though ;) ) but when my wife started talking about buying a handgun to carry we looked at and rented everything but a "1911 style" and settled on a Kahr CW9. It's a great, reliable shooter that she can safely operate while concentrating on the target. Every system needs a certain amount of attention before, during and after use. The question is how much time and mental resources do you have to spare for yours after you are done with everything else involved in your job? Personally, I take 'keep it simple' to the extreme. When I get dressed it is an S&W revolver I reach for. The only failures I can suffer are either ammo related or between my ears.

Anecdotally, a friend that I shoot with had a Kimber for two days. He had several issues on day one and on day two he returned it and got a Nighthawk which has chewed up and spat out everything including my most craptastic handload.

But how in the world does an agency buy something of this importance without a field test, a pilot run and feedback from the agents.

Government stupidity strikes again!

Yeah sarcasm and hyperbole on the internet, I'm sure you're shocked. :-) Yes, I could have chosen better words. A thousand apologies to anyone offended by my insensitive remarks

I never claimed to be an expert, and never intended to draw parallels between the amount I have shot and the amount the agents may or may not have shot. And I certainly wasn't trying to impress anyone. The internet is a bad place to attempt such a feat anyways. I could have easily said I had 200,000 rounds through the guns. I was simply contributing what I could to the thread. Thanks for taking the time to jab at me though.

When you're the "friend" in the high place, you approve firearms purchases, your department has a policy that let's you keep your last service pistol when you retire for $1, you find something really fancy you'd like for "free" and you plan on retiring the moment they're shipped in.... Well... this is what happens.

Another issue with most tiny guns is the mag is not getting the next round up into position in time and the slide is catching the extraction groove instead of the cartridge base leading to the "nose up" jam. Another is the mag is losing control of the rounds under recoil -- in this case sometimes it'll eject live rounds. If there is no FOD or other problems with the mag causing the follower to bind stronger mag springs are the only fix unless you can somehow slow down the slide, because if the bullet's nose didn't get high enough up the ramp to feed, another symptom of tiny guns.

Soooo, how do you feel about the Wilson 47d's so many people recommend?
