I have no experience with that one, but I know others do.

Buckmark is pretty nice, but I would buy some of the plastic recoil buffers and moon clips as spare parts.

I have a Ruger MRKIII 22/45. Great pistol. Even better once you get the MRKII parts kit in it and get rid of the magazine disconnect.

I have a Buckmark and love it. But before you buy the URX you might want to actually hold/fire it first. I held one before I bought a model with more conventional grips because they felt good in my hand. I didn't care for the URX grip. YMMV :geek:

I have seen the retainer called a moon clip before. I would assume that's what gryfalcon is talking about.

Have you looked at the Beretta Neos?

I like the idea of letting the younger learners choose their color.

Recoil spring retaining clip, C clip, or wherever they're called: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?p ... ber=211460

If it feels good in your hands, buy it. My Buckmark has been completely trouble free in the 8 years I've owned it. Reliable, accurate, feeds and fires nearly any ammo.

My father has a buckmark, smith and wesson, woodsman, and a neos currently. They are all very good .22 pistols, by that i mean they are not ammo sensitive.

My Sig Mosquito is very ammo sensitive (CCI's only). My experience with Ruger has been the same, nice pistols but very ammo sensitive.

Its easy to say CCI's are $7 per/hundred and thats cheaper than my .45 but if you are buying a .22 for cheap practice then you should be able to shoot cheap ammo through it!

I've got one too. It's not picky about ammo at all.

My dad has a Buckmark that is a little more picky. CCI's are fine, but the Federal bulk packs will stovepipe about 1 out of 15 rounds.

Never owned a .22 pistol other than a Ruger MK2, have owned 5 of various types, none were picky about ammo, all functioned flawlessly and were/are more accurate than I can can shoot them. I almost left the Ruger camp a few years back when I saw/held a URX, but shortly afterwards had a nice lightly used MK2 SS Competion Target model fall into my lap (figuratively), I got that instead and haven't looked back.

I find it hard to recommend a 22 pistol without knowing what you want to accomplish with it. However; IMHO, spend too much and buy too nice of a pistol NOW, and you will never have to trade up or make excuses to your friends why you bought a crappy gun. Listen, a 22 is a fine choice for ownership for many GOOD reasons, aside economy and killing power. Please, avoid Ruger, the cheapo Smith and Wesson and Beretta NEOS. These are a profound waste of money, unless you can't find a brick to hold the door open. The S&W M-41 is an o.k. choice, and a better choice is the SIG Hammerli Trailside (now Walther XCESS). I have the older SP22 Pardini and it is a fine gun. There are revolvers that are fairly nice, such as the S&W M-17. And remember, well fitting grips, crisp target sights and a target trigger can only be found on more pricey guns, the el-cheapos all desire improvement.
