All this makes me really glad I dropped the $75 on the Isanti County Sportsman Club membership. Even if I only go with a guest two or three times it'll more than cover what I'd pay at Bill's. I used to take my nephew once or twice a year to Bill's north, bought a couple/few guns from there too (Doug sold me my Kahr years ago, we joked about being him being a Kahr salesman, at least I wasn't buying used... )
ICSC is only 20min more for me than going to Bill's. I've waited that long just to shoot.

There's my $0.02 and not a penny more.

I have never had a problem with the employees at Bill's South. Everyone I have dealt with there have been great. As for the range fees, I get the 20 tokens for $250 which works out to about $12.50 per visit if I go alone, $22.50 if I bring another person with me. I usually bring my own target, eyes & ears. I also make sure to bring extra if I know the person I'm going with is not likely to have their own.

I can only recall one incident where I was swept by someone at Bills So. Though, I must admit that I try to go there when I know they won't be real busy which reduces the number of idiots on the range.

I've been to BPR a couple of times and have no complaints. As for gun clubs, I would never join a club that would have me as a member. 8-)

Yes, you do get muzzled at both places like there's no tomorrow, but unless somebody can come up with a gun idjit tester to screen out thye r00bs at the range desk, I'm not sure what you could really do about it.

1. *Ahem* why good sir, i proclaim that the proximity of reasonably priced high volume containers of malted cereal grains is but a trivial factor in my choice of surroundings in which to practice my hand at gentlemanly persuits - might i suggest that you acquire a ticket on the first carriage into the damnable abyss of Lucifer and bid you good day!?! (HA! - see, i can be ghetto and highbrow at once ;) )

2, idgit detector aside, i have two simple suggestions of what they could do about it. One: is f-in grind it in a bit up front that you have to keep the barrel downrange and case/uncase at the point. i know they all "say" it. there is only one range guy i've seen at bills (and i'm there a lot, seen 'em all many times over the years) who does a GREAT job at this. Second, and in tandem, adding a range rule that if you muzzle, you're done would be a great idea in my book. i don't think it's unreasonable that if some jack ass points a gun at me and 1-25 other people that they are asked to leave the area. i take that action pretty darn seriously.

i've seen people LOAD revo cylinders at the back ledge, lock'em up and then swing them sideways as they walk up to the shooting point. i don't have any tolerance for that kind of crap. you have no business handling a weapon with that little care or regard to proper gun safety.

now.. where'd that paper bag of mad dog go...
i do what i can, where i'm needed, and i ask so little in return. i'm a true humanitarian fueled by rainbows and whiskey. you should be so lucky to know me...

My only problems with Bills are the following.

Gangbangers at Robbingsdale....a reason I try not to ever go there.

They are expensive, prices seem high for both lane rental and their retail store. They have a good selection, but money doesn't grow in my backyard.

The employees at the ranges are typically not friendly. I've seen a couple decent ones but overall they give the cold shoulder. I don't go there to talk guns or to try and make friends with the employees (and I can completely see the employees getting sick of people wanting to tell gun stories all day) but they need to hire some friendlier staff.

I'm not a serious shooter or a reloader so I can't comment on some of the other stuff. For right now they will keep getting my business but I'm by no means devoted. Once I find a better place I probably won't go back due to the above reasons.

I wonder what would happen if someone called 911 and reported "assault with a deadly weapon".

Do you suppose any of the gangbangers there are prohibited, by dint of prior convictions, from possessing a firearm?

Let us know how this works out for you.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Any word on what management said after hearing the complaints?

I think you'll find insecure jerks at just about any store. How management deals with you once something like this happens is what distinguishes one store from another. Thus, I'd be very interested to hear how they react to your complaints, if you contact them, Rob.
