To most, it's more about the company with other like-minded folks than the price, which is fair, or the food, which is not bad. I hope and pray that other events can meet your lofty value and culinary standards.

Aye, they are getting expensive, but so are most places, and I do not think the seperate charge for drinks pays for the back room, I always get charged for that lately :( not that I go often.

The one thing I like about OCB for meetings is we pay up front and there is no messing with splitting bills and such…. Also the free for all bacon too!

Ps: I think they seperated the charge so people don't have to pay for drinks if they only want water, they give them a different colored glass.

Yup.

Having set up group gatherings for a couple decades now (not just you guys), buffets are ideal because:

1) you don't have to reserve a set number of seats and then worry about too few or too many showing up versus what you promised
2) you don't have to dick around with 3 or 4 interactions with staff before you get your food (seating, beverage, order, salad, check back, etc)
3) the food is ready to go right away
4) people can show up late and still get their food quickly
5) people can leave early and still get their food
6) people can get as much as they want
7) if someone takes something they don't like, they can just pitch it and start over
8) you aren't glued to your seat, if you want something, go get it

How much are two egg-Mcmuffins, OJ, and a coffee.............. :didntdoit:

If you don't want to eat the food, just get a beverage ticket...I do...
If you don't want to meet up with all of the "folks" don't use the food as an excuse........
If you don't want to wear a name tag....take it up with......nevermind, I understand....
If you just want to whine, that and lots of stupid other stuff is what this board is for....continue....
All men are created equal....It's what they do from there that matters!.

Very true :)

When My wife and I were organizing a meeting for an Adults with Asperger's group, we preffered OCB or the like for those reasons, but we ended up using a church basement as alot as the members had a bad time affording for OCB. We did do picinics now and then at north regional park (53rd north and hwy 94). That was fun but trying to do vegitarian, kosher, and brats on one small grill can be interesrting!

I have no problem paying George 10 bucks for a much smaller array of food. The last time I went to OCB, they asked if I was with a group, I said "yes, the gun guys", and they informed me the manager decided the beverage bar was no longer optional, and that it was required in exchange for use of the back room. I suppose if you want to lie about being alone, or whatever, that's your decision to skip out on the up-charge. Personally, I take it as "we don't really want your business" and I'll keep my money from them.

EVERY time I've been to one of these breakfasts, another, or even numerous other groups has come in and used that room with us. It's not like we get splendid isolation.

That the food is blah, is almost secondary. That they're pushing weight, well, that makes me react. Having our group's numbers isn't enough, so why don't we find someone who's appreciative of the business?

The floor is open for nominations...

You could check with Sam, but I'm pretty sure they don't like to fire up the flat top at the Gopher in the warmer months and don't have the energy for a monthly event.

No need to check with SS, I know George doesn't have the urge to make it a monthly event (not sure what the whole scoop on it is, but I know he spaces them out for a reason).

You guys are scaring the new facilitator, turning this into a discussion about moving the breakfast! :D Seriously, it is alot of work to move the breakfast--many restaurants have to be scouted out in whatever area (and no two guys ever agree on what area that should be), the management has to be talked to, and only a few restaurants have the facilities and the desire to take a bunch of gun-totin' rednecks who only show up once a month but want their own room.
I do not believe in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.

Nobody wants to move the breakfast except for one constant complainer. He can start his own.

I am happy with MW OCB, but it is hard to ruin breakfast, so as long as they have plenty of bacon I am set! :D

I'm ok with whatever you guys want to do. There's only 4 more of these before hunting season, and I've got a lot to do (which might include neck surgery).
