Maybe because it's a great rifle made by a very unique and crazy guy? That's my reason, anyway. I'm convinced the Army made the right decision going with the Garand, but the Johnson sure is cool. I don't like the trigger very much, and I'm not sure the recoiling barrel is the right way to go on an infantryman's rifle. I love the way the rifle looks pregnant, and if you ever read anything in-depth about Melvin Johnson you'll appreciate the gun even more. From a manufacturer perspective, it really has an interesting story! I'm glad I happened to find a good deal on one in excellent shape a couple of years ago, but I really wish I had gotten one back when I first started wanting one and they weren't in demand.
